I've heard the threads are the same as the 1911 standard thread but I don't know the numbers. Length is important. If your wanting thin as possible I'd get length similar to what you have for the rubber grips. I saw an MK 9 with rubber this weekend and they are pretty thin. The detective with the MK9 is bring it in to me today for awhile so I can start whittling when I find the time. I love Birdseye Maple, had a big hunk of burl, beautiful, it doesn't checker well but it's pretty. Koa is nice but sometimes too soft for a grip. I have Padouk.

Purple Heart? Cool! I like that , Andaman Island Padouk, Pauferro, Macassar Ebony, Birdseye Maple, Koa etc. I used to do a lot of custom woodworking but alas am too busy with work and the family. I will look for the parts and arange to send to you. PM me with your contact info and address when you have a minute. BTW, what thread size, pitch and length are the MK screws? If you don't know, I'll take them out and measure them.
