Default Police k9 trade in question.

Can the heavy trigger on the nypd k9's be improved by just changing springs? Also when looking to buy new springs should I order springs from kahr or are wolf springs just as good, or I guess are they both the same?

i serioulsy doubt if ur k9 trigger ismore than 6.5#, certanly not heavy by any standards, buthe 5# striker spring from wolffs is anice addition.

Wisewolfhowling,

I have an NYPD K9 trade-in and wouldn't do a thing to the trigger. Do the lighter weight striker if you like.
For sure replace the recoil spring from Wolff's. They ship a striker spring along with it. But honestly, you needn't do anything to this trigger. It's buttery smooth and wonderful.

Thanks for the info. I think I AM going to order the gun next week so I will post updates when the gun arrives. Again thanks for the info. I have a cw45 and really like it! Hope the k9 is just as nice or better.

WWH,

Be prepared to do a full strip and extensive cleaning on that K9. Nearly everyone who has bought one is amazed that a life-saver like these guns are in the condition they were kept.

But the beauty of the All SS Kahrs is they clean up so well and are honestly heirloom pieces, you won't be disappointed.

Man do they shoot nice.

FOR ALOT OF COPS IT IS MERELY A TOOL OF TRADE, like a carpenters hammer, SO for some they cold give a rats ass. Can;'t prove it but my bet is that 95% of all NYPD K9 have less than 2k rounds through them and if they have to buy their off duty practice ammo, probably then far far less than 2K even. WhenI bought my K9, it was OK looking, I installed the 5# striker spring and have since never taken the slide allthe way down. smoother than butter to. Who ever owned it did the break i for me that was for sure. Couorse I ported it right off to and it just shoots so so nice and pleasant. Like u tinman( damn hurts to say that to) I can;'t tell any differnece in the NYPD trigger either. I would not spend a dollar to change it over .

It is possible to disassemble the slide and polish up the parts w/o too much trouble and that will help. It helped on my NYPD trade in, anyhow.

I'd like to take apart the frame and go after a few areas, but, I'm too chicken at this point, having hear/read of too many folks "mushrooming" the trigger pin. Must use a press, not a hammer and I don't have one handy.

So far, so good. A lb off the trigger would help, but, its not bad for what it is thus far.
