Yeah, they're not nearly as heavy as many people make them out to be. I respect why some people want a pistol less than 10oz, but after having owned a few it hasn't proven to be a characteristic I care for.
It's a tiny bit thicker than most pocket pistols as well, but it's still a thin pistol for all intents and purposes. I'm still very surprised about how well it fit my hand, and I think that's due to the ever so slightly thicker trait.

Don't know why.
My 11.1 oz S&W 342 ti 38 +P fills that role.
The Micro Eagle and a Seecamp keep bouncing through my mind.

I tried the J-frame route before with a 642-1. There's NO comparison in size between a J-frame and a micro sized .380, the .380's are much smaller and carry much, much better. A more valid comparison in size for a J-frame would be a Glock 26 or HK P2000sk. I found that if I could carry that size of pistol, then I could carry my P2000 anyway. As it is, my P2000 is what I carry 99% of the time, and I'm even waiting on a holster (JR Customs AIWB) to wear it tucked under dress clothes. The MDE will fill the role as a 100% NPE gun, but more commonly as my "lazy gun" as I lay around the house and do not wish to wear a holster
I considered the NAA Guardian .380, but not the Seecamp. I found a local .380 Guardian for $199 used......it was WAY too small to be anything but a belly gun. I understand and respect that's all some people expect of their pocket pistols, but I'm not one of them. For instance, I fully intend on documenting my performance with the MDE with drills such as the 4567, Dot Torture, and FAST all viewed here at
Pistol-Training.com.

Ughhhh.....I'm STILL waiting on a purchasing permit.
In NJ, in order to buy a gun you need a Firearms ID card. In addition, for each pistol you buy a Pistol Purchasers Permit is needed (which is what I'm waiting on). These permits were instituted before the NICS system, so it made sense to do a background check. Today, we have the NICS system, so it's completely pointless and a waste of $18 for each permit since we have to get a NICS check every time you fill out a Form 4473 anyway. It's literally just a NICS check and they give you the permit, but they make it take weeks for whatever reason.
Fortunately, this NJ thing is a temporary stay.
The range report will come the day after I take possession, I can assure you that! It's nice to see so many people interested in the MDE. I ended up with an extra pocket holster (Galco), so if anyone is local and needs one I'll be happy to make it a gift just to "pay it forward."
