    Default New Cw45 uh oh

Hi all,Just got a new CW45 ( already owned a cw9 that was flawless)and took it to the range today,(did the Jocko prep first)first shot the front sight comes off this isnt good.

But i wanted to break it in so I decided to just point and shoot.Easy to hit a 2'x3' target at 21 ft.But it doesnt like TULAMMO steel case ammo at all,I guess you get what you pay for.14.50 box of 50 .it wouldnt even go into battery with it.I took the barrel out and tried to just drop them in,they would not go in,(My glock 36 eats this stuff up)thats a tight breach! So I went and got a box of federal from the range. This will work right?About 3 out of each mag I ran through it would not go into full battery..It took a rap of my hand to get it to go forward.I shot that box of 50,then all I had left was my winchester 230jhp's so I shot them ,as I neared the end of my ammo It seemed to clear up.I emailed Kahr about the sight but not about the other issue as I know they need a break in .Was emailing the way to do it or should I call too?I know the guys at the range would put a new sight on for free if I had it.Thanks for listening. Marty

    Recoolyer,

My advice is to spend the extra cash for a metal sight. I've removed two of the OEM sights to install night sights and in both cases the plastic sight came off so easily that I'm surprised their failure rate isn't pandemic.

Kahr and Dawson Precision offer several sight options for the CW series pistols. FWIW, the Trijicon sights from Kahr are only offered as a set on their website, but I was able to order just the front sight by contacting a sales rep.

As you say your failure to go into battery issue seemed to clear up towards the end of your range session, it's quite possible that a little break in was/is needed. Early on, my CW45 was sluggish when chambering a particular brand of ammo, but with use that is no longer an issue.

    Regards,
    Greg

Sorry to hear about the issues with your CW45. I picked one up a few weeks ago and other then a bad primer (good strike but no boom) and one fail to eject it's cycled everything I've fed it. The recoil spring was very stiff through the first hundred rounds making running the slide difficult but by the end of the 2nd hundred rounds it's very smooth.

I'm still not sure on whether I'll change the sights. Let us know how the installation goes. I've heard from some it's so simple a caveman could do but if it's possible to screw it up I'd find a way to do it.

Greg, can you give the details of exactly who you contacted, and how much did it cost total for the Trijicon front sight only? Thanks!

The plastic front sight on my CW9 bothers me, and from the sound of it for good reason. I am gone to send XS an email to ask if they have any plans to make a big dot sight set for the CW/CM line of pistols also.

Right guys! Right! Make sure to have duct tape, electricians tape, hot glue (with gun). Elmers. Hammer (large) kitchen knife, and some pine sap.

    We can fix anything.
