IMO, don't get such an abbreviated holster with the muzzle of your gun sticking out to bump against doors and counters and get scratched up. Also, you want a small sweat shield. I have posted my recommendation for the PJ IWB Kydex holster HERE: http://kahrtalk.com/showpost.php?p=117442&postcount=11. It just weighs an ounce or so, fully covers and protects your gun, and is so comfortable that after a few minutes you cannot perceive that you are wearing your gun. I KNOW you will love this holster, and if for any reason you don't, Paul will make it right or refund your money. My second one of these holster is in the mail to me now. Don't make a mistake. Get the PJ. (I am a non-paid endorser because I genuinely love these holsters and know what a great guy Paul is to do business with.)

I was starting to wonder if he was slipping you a little something under the table. LOL ;)

I'm not a fan of bare Kydex myself and prefer leather against my guns. Silent draw, better on the finish, and with adjustable retention I think it's more secure.
The holster displayed is very minimalistic, not something I would purchase. Not much holding it in the way it looks.

Nope. I'm a paying customer and just giving an honest recommendation. Paul is one of two holster makers that I highly recommend. Paul for economical, all day comfort an practicality. And James Dean Gunleather (jlaudio29 on here) for those who want a fine leather holster that is absolutely a work of art done with such attention to detail, and yet very fairly priced. Here is a thread featuring some of his work, including the one I got for my CM9.

I might be in the minority here but I prefer minimal OWB holsters as long as they secure the gun. My Don Hume JIT works just fine for me.

I haven't tried the JAK slide, but (FWIW) it's gotten some good reviews on Optics Planet: http://www.opticsplanet.com/reviews/reviews-galco-jak-slide-concealment-holsters.html

Well, there's at least two of us now!
Been trying to talk myself into a paddle holster for the SP101. Couple of more days and I'll probably order one.:D

I don't mind minimalist with certain items, a holster is not one of them.
Might be inexperience, train of thought or sheer gut feeling... maybe a combination of the 3. A holster is meant to keep your firearm safe and secure during carry, there are many options out there that are better in my opinion.
What happens when you loosen your belt, looks like ALL retention would be completely lost.

If you are speaking specific to the holster in the photo, I don't know first hand. My guess is that it would be about as secure as many open top holster sans retention device. The Yaqui slide I posted a photo of has adjustable tension screws and holds the firearm with the same amount of pressure on or off the belt.

All great responses from you guys! I think I am going to try out this less expensive Galco Jak Slide look alike from Kahr.com. Check it out...Both of these for my PM9 of course.

Or what do you think of this one for a place to put your CPL card? I think mine is good enough in my billfold but thoughts on this idea?

You're kidding with both of these, right? I tried a holster like that. Total POS and waste of money. For just $15 more, you can get the perfect holster in that PJ holster that I recommended to you. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish.
And, no, you don't put your card on your holster (or one of those silly CCW badges). You keep it close to your driver's license so you can hand both of them to a LEO while stating that you have a carry permit and are carrying, with hands in plain view and not moving around.

No such thing as a perfect holster, what's perfect for one purpose can suck for another.
I wish I had known that when I first started looking, I would have realized really fast that I could save a lot of time looking for 'the' perfect holster and a little more time finding 'the right holster for the task at hand'.
Skip the permit holder by all means, you don't want to appear to be reaching for your gun if you need to show your permit - absolutely no need to raise the tension levels.
I'll ask what you're intended purpose is for this holster before recommending anything.

I can understand the permit holder holster. It is a dumb idea. I totally agree just wanted your thoughts. I ordered the black belt slide one without the permit holder. I thought I would try it out just because I carry IWB now with Galcos stow n go. I like it but there are times I would like to carry OWB. This gives me the best of both worlds.

Another concern is that the bottom of the gun is exposed. If you bump it against something, like an armrest on a chair, it could force the gun up & out of the holster.

I am guessing its a pretty popular holster. Galco sells em for $65 bucks. It should be perfect for my little PM9.
