I send my BUG in last Friday. Its a SIG P238 .380. It kept throwing the upper right grip screw and developed a problem with the mag release button sticking. Sig picked up the shipping, as they always volunteer when it's waranty work.

They contacted me this morning and offered me an upgrade to a P290 9mm or a replacement of the P238. Because of multiple holsters and a bunch of .380 ammo at home, I am sticking with the P238. My THIRD one. Each replacement has been a surprise. Each time I thought I had a minor problem.

I feel very lucky to have a lifetime warranty and lucky I have other guns to carry while I wait. I hope they let me select a SAS model. I offered to forgo the laser that came with mine. Hoping for an extra mag to round out the deal. They are estimating 4 weeks for my replacement. Last time they said that it was under three weeks. At least they reached out inside three days of receiving my gun.

All you guys dealing with warranty work, be patient, the grass isn't greener on the other side

I sold my PM9. I miss its ease of carry. I don't miss the long trigger. Just personal preference.

hope your bug gets better soon. I hear you. However, the cs at Kahr , for me, has been excellent.

I sure wish would replace my piece of junk k9 elite, rather than sending it back to me repeatedly with the same issue, or creating more issues on it.

Mine was flawless after a feedramp polishing by Sig. My first gun was replaced due to a fracture in the frame. This second gun has a stripped screw hole. I am getting an extra mag and the SAS version.

My serial number on this gun A270612xx

I learned a long time ago......it's cheaper [aka BETTER] to have a private gunsmith fix if possible and skip the warranty. Less down time also if your gunsmith is good.
I am blessed by not being to far from Ahlman's, whom employ's 6 gunsmiths.

I can remember when I sold my business and I had a fewguns left in the business,I took them with me. One was a 342 Smith that was new and as ice a sit was I wanted th trigger smoothed out.

I took it to an amish smitty who was supposed to be very good at his work A few weeks later I went to pick it up and he gave the gun to me and said no charge. I ask why,he said someone has been inside that gun haven't they. I told him it was new never sold, he smiled and said OK..

I have no clue to this day WTF went on.

I've got seven guns alright.
But my five day a week, deep cover, last chance pocket gun?
Just one (S&W 342 ti 38/11.6 oz - 14.0 loaded).
And on the weekends when I dress and carry what I please?
Guess what's my secondary backup?

Usually I can handle putting one or more of my guns in the shop.
Or sent back to the mother-ship.
But when I put my pocket gun in some upgrades?
(SS trigger, trigger job, XS Big Dot front sight)
I was noticeably uncomfortable.

Might need to start thinking backup to the backup LOL!

Actually, I could slip the Eagle Secret Service grips back on the S&W 640-1 357 in a pinch!
Yes, that's why I had to buy that second J-frame! That's the ticket.

:33::86:My out of pocket is zero and I had a chance to try a laser (didn't care for it). I now have a new gun with a look I like better. I have made two friends at Sig CS. Doesn't get any better than this. No gunsmith is going to be able to repair a fracture in an alloy frame or a stripped grip screw hole (not a bushing in this small 1911 style gun). The downtime helps justify multiple back ups at home.:)

Thanks...I tried to get this upgrade in May when the first gun was replaced. I was moving into 9mm at the time . I have several more guns now and the P290 isn't as attractive. The trigger is DAO and heavier and longer than the 238. At the time demand outsrtiped supply.

My first p238 has aluminum grips and all the screws came loose when shooting The blue loctite solved the problem The other one has wood and those have never come loose. Apparently you did not strip the frame or I would think Sig would be not so accomidating Both of my Kahr mk's screws loosen while shooting I just tighten them with a dime With the serial# of your p238 I'm surprised there is anything wrong with it Yours is the first one I have read about

I could have fixed the mag release but took the opportunity to get the grip screw issue resolved.

These 380s are fun to shoot and are extremely accurate at SD distances. I feel like I could pick crumbs off a BD's beard at 18 feet.

Here's what I'll be getting new from Sig. My prior gun was all black Nitron with double diamond Rosewood grips. It will be worth the wait. I've loved this gun from the start.

Speaking of "Life outside Kahr...

I found a Beretta Nano at Woodbury Outfitters in Ohio. They should ship on Monday, which means I'll be shooting and reporting next Friday.

Could be worse.. the CS I got from one company I don't want to mention is that we don't sell that part... all I wanted was a couple of breech plugs so I could turn a cap lock pistol into a flintlock and cut down a rifle barrel I have spare to make a 17inch barreled hunting flintlock pistol...

Black Nitron with Sig Blackwood grips here.
If you ever want some inexpensive grips ($41) to change up the look, here's one source which used to do work for SIG. They were the vendor for the 1911 RCS

Yeah, I know there are reasonably priced alternatives to OEM Sig...and thanks very much for the link, going into bookmarks.

I just got really hung up on wanting the Sig Blackwoods on an all black P238. So bought a base Nitron and then semi-conned wife into buying the grips as an 25th anniversary present last month. An occasion to justify the exorbitant price.

And I really do like the way they look, and feel, on the gun.

Also, fwiw, I have a Mustang Pocketlite that I frequently carried cc and as a bug for well over ten years....tuned, dehorned, night sights, quite a few $$. I've only had this Sig for a couple-three months, but I like it better right out of the box + a little bit of trigger work. Congrats to Sig for the upgrade to what was already an excellent piece.

I use Speer Gold Dots 90 gr std pressure because of general reputation and these were Sig's choice when they test fired mine, following a feedramp polish.

Gold Dots. For years I pretty much carried nothing but HyraShok and some +P Corbon in all my defense handguns (except short barrel .38...Federal NyClad) because they were solid performers.

About a year or year and a half ago I began switching to Gold Dots and HST because, although I don't chase the newest and coolest, bullet tech changed in 20 years. These two bondeds have a solid performance history....arguably the best of the bunch. Something to watch....although I generally don't care for Hornady ammunition for whatever reason, their new Critical Duty design seems to have a lot of promise.

I don't get too wrapped around the axle over short barrel .380 ballistic niceties....it's a .380 and there's only so much to work with. The Gold Dot is a good round, feeds very reliably in my P238, and the gun just generally seems to like it. The rest/last of my .380 HydraShok stock is reserved for the Colt.

Feed ramp comment...I've polished the feed ramp and barrel hood as a matter of course on every carry/regular use semi-auto handgun I've ever owned going back to about 1970. Except this one. I pulled out all my polishing stuff, took a good, hard look at the barrel, and other than breaking a slight and perhaps imagined edge at the beginning of the feed ramp I just put all my tools away. Especially for today, this is a very well done gun.

No doubt more than you wanted....just got carried away.
