I am a big kahr fan and I like this forum here and everyone is nice and helpful. But i signed up on Glock Talk because i also like glocks and am a member of GSSF and was hoping to learn more about Glocks as well.
I have to say they are not that friendly. Some members over there just want start crap. Now I know that i dont know everthing about Glocks, But as for Guns in general i have some experience. I'm a NRA Instructor,Member of NMLRA,GSSF Member, and ATA shotgun Instructor, and hunted all over the country, and CC'ed everyday for over 20yrs and have bought, sold, traded guns even back in high school.
But I say that Glock Talk is not for me. It kinda makes me want to sell all my Glocks if that is what all glock owners act like...lol.
This forum is great and filled with wonderful people
Thanks,
Littlejoe

Welcome. I'm sure your shooting expertise and Glock knowledge will be called on before long. There are plenty of Glock owners here. My hands aren't large enough for any Glocks I have tried but I've often wondered if there was a short trigger and smaller grip. I understand Gen 4 to be a step in the right direction, I've also notice they sell a couple of SF (Short Frame) models. Am I limited to 1911s with slim grips?

Your certainly not the first person to have similar thoughts to the Glock forum. I'm snuck in a couple times to look around and couldn't find the exit fast enough. Kind of sad it's that way. Not sure why it is that way, maybe busier, more members, lesser mods, can't put my finger on it.
I know we have many members here who visit there and quite a few that got banned over there too. I'm thinking about checking out the 1911 forum just to see what others are like, I don't think I'll be on Glock any time soon.
No shame in owning a Glock either if they work for you. I have a 21SF (Triggerman, the SF won't do a thing for small hands, but maybe a Gen4, I've never played with one yet).
Forums do not make a brand, so I'd not go so far as to get rid of your Glocks just cause of a caustic forum. I wonder what the record is for getting banned over there anyhow. I'm always up for setting records.
I can see it now, maybe in their banner, bawanna banned after 2 post.
Maybe I'll get a gold star or a statue, ya think?
Triggerman- "Am I limited to 1911s with slim grips? "
You make it sound like this is a bad thing? If I die with nothing but 1911's I'll die a happy man, happier if I have alot of others too but if there can only be one make it a 1911.

Thanks Guys, Glad it was just not me.
I also have a Rock Island 1911 in 9mm and have to say i like it as well as any of my Glocks.... It was like $399 new and i have only put like 200rds through it without any troubles. I just find it alittle heavy for everyday carry. but great gun for the money.

Being kind of high profile by nature.
I'm pretty sure everybody knows.
With a Kahr MK40 Elite and a Glock Talo EXO G27.
I'm a member of both forums.
They are very different places.
This one is much more personal and family like.
A lot more than just a gun forum.
GlockTalk is big and sort of cold.
There is a minor Troll infestation to deal with.
But there are some good folks and quality info too.
I particularly like Mas and his SD forum.
Plus if you have a legitimate problem, you will get help.

I've been on GLOCK Talk since early 2006, same screen name as here.
It is one of the largest gun forums on the net and there are many many Internet Commandos there.
But I have also met, broke bread with and had many of them in my home. Some I consider true friends.
One of them recently died and we as a group came together to help the surviving spouse.
I was also in the military for nearly 23 years, lots of morons crossed my path there too and I got desensitized by their idiocy.
GT is a great place, if you have thick skin.
KahrTalk is much easier going, but it is a completely different animal, socially.
I like both places.

Triggerman,
Have you tried a Glock 36. I sold mine to my father in-law and have been considering getting it back on a trade. Its a .45 which is a bit unwieldy in the slim framed g36 but if that's what you're used to shooting...

I have been a member there since 2005 with the same screen name as here and it is a very different forum. I haven't been that active lately but there is a wealth of information there as well as a lot of good people. General Non-Glocking (GNG Lounge) is a free for all mostly. the OX & Alex Forum is a good place though with an odd collection of folks. I kinda miss it...
The main forum I am posting in is AR15.com with the same screen name as here and it has the same kind of make up. Each forum has it's own personality and quirks - it is hard to 'break into' a new one...
I have also ben a Glock Talk member since about 05. I do not frequent it very much nowadays. I used to visit the kahrclub section of the forum. I do not even know if it is still in existence anymore, it has been that long since I visited GT. I didn't like it. Too many "experts" that seemed to be overly impressed with themselves. The info they provided could not always be counted on. And.... (as a newbe) if you ask what could be considered a naive question..... Yikes! let the flaming begin! Maybe I am too thin skinned...? :o

Glock Talk... Anyone a member or there?
I still go there from time to time, but post little as the two sections I'm most interested in, Kahrs and HKs, are fairly slow, with few postings.
The GlockTalk forum and the Kahr Club section in particular was probably the internet goto place for Kahr forum help and info prior to the birth of KahrTalk. Some of the original stickies there, transfered to here, are the grail of knowledge. This forum has become the authoritative source for Kahr discussions, but GlockTalk served a valuable role for many years.
I'm a optimist, and see value in all the forums on which I visit and participate. Like all forums, one has to sift through the ore to find the gold. Some are better than others but all have nuggets.

I am a member over there, since about Nov. Funny thing..They would not allow Hognutz as my username. Said it was offensive. So I changed it to something more generic. I was accepted. Now I see a guy on there that goes by Moosenutz. I also see posts that have the ''F'' word every other sentence. That doesn't bother me, as I am a retired Ironworker. I can curse with the best of them. Ironic though, Hognutz is too offensive, but Moosenutz isn't..Bunch of fokkers!! Actually, it is a good sight to learn about Glocks. That is my intention because I am going to buy one, soon. I wssn't sure whether to get a 23 or a 19, and had a lot of insight into both..I actually don't mind visiting there..

I've been a member for a few years; but my account has never been granted posting authority (not uncommon) so I can only search and read. This is a "good thing" as it prevents me from participating in the frequent acrimony in that site, yet allows me to enjoy it as a passive observer; kinda like rubbernecking a car wreck.

Why do that when a CW45 can be bought for at or below $350 shipped? Much thinner and a great shooter with a lot less recoil. No contest, even if you don't factor in the price difference.

I'm a member there under a different name. It prevents Yaa hoo bleed over onto other sites.(I been down that childish road before years back under a different topic.) GT can be informative but there are quite a few members there that I think the first word out of there mouth every morning is Glock. I agree Glock is a good gun but my God it's not the only gun in the world as some at GT would love to have us believe. Anything ever gets said negative about a Glock and the fan boys are falling out of the rafters calling it BS. I find it quite humorous at times. Other times I think WTF get your heads out of the sand and experience other brands and they might just find out that there Glock is just another good gun amoung many. I certainlty do not think it's better than an XD, CZ,Beretta, Sig.,HK. or a good 1911. To be honest I don't think it as good as most of those brands. JMO.

I tried the Diamondbacktalk forum for awhile trying to get some help with my DB9. It seems if you don't think their guns are the most marvelous thing since sliced bread, you get labeled a troll and asked to leave or get the boot. I've seen a couple of our members or there be treated rudely by ADMIN. He threatened 3 people in a row, and I asked him if he was having a bad day, LOL, he replied he should have sent them PM's so we wouldn't have seen how he was acting. Hope ADMIN got coal in his stocking for Christmas.

OOps My bad, Don't know how I could have forgotten Kahr.(senior moment I guess:o) I know my G26 is a nice CC pistol, but when I try to compare it to my PM9 it carries like a brick. My Glock has not been more reliable than My Kahr as it's been perfect also and I've got more rounds through my Kahr. That and the Kahrs styling as well as many other brands IMO has it all over the glocks. That's not even getting into sights, triggers, grips angle and feel, and safety features.
As I'm a fan of many, Fanboy of none.

I'm also a member on GT, as well as about a dozen others. Each forum has a personality and draws that crowd. I see GT as a young full of testosterone site with a lot of posturing a chest thumping. Some other sites are like a group of old scientists arguing for hours about getting one more angel on the head of a pin. Neither have much tolerance for new thoughts and are quick to circle their wagons like a troop of gibbons pounding their chest screaming "me too!"
I'm more comfortable here with the pot belly stove in the hardware store feeling I get listening to good natured back and forth along with good advice and new information considered.

Sent from my SGH-i917 using Board ExpressI haven't shot any Glocks and only fondled a few. Based on double stack mags, I assumed there isn't a Glock in my future.
I'm surprised to hear Baanna say the the SF models don't offer help to those with smaller hands. I tought that was the design intent of SF models.

I am a member at GT and can testify that the mod over there is a butt nugget. Anyway, I much prefer shooting the breeze over here with my buddies and bawanna. He's in a category all by himself. ;)
Triggerman, the G36 is the red headed step-child of the Glock family. It is a single stack. If it had a better trigger, it could be the Glock 1911.

The other issue I always had with GT is the forum structure. Seems over time they just added more and more stuff, so that there are a ton of sub-forums and many seem redundant. At least they have cleaned up the layout a bit. For a while the advertising was so heavy it was hard to actually find the forums. :)

I ask a question about comparing a G26 vs CW9, I was sad to here all the bad stuff about the cw9, The one i have is a far better gun than my old G26. I should have knowed better to ask that on a Glock forum. I also posted a reply to a post about a glock 23 .40 cal that had a KABOOM with someones brothers, uncles reloads. and said thats why i only shoot factory ammo or load my own and I will never shoot reloads that someone made in there basement while drinking beer with his buddies.....WOW did they let me have it. I guess everyone over there is an expert in ammo manufactoring.
I have been a member on INGunOwners forum for years and everyone is nice and friendly like here. If anyone is from IN. or in a close state you may want to check it out. I have bought alot of guns from there classified ads.
I am just thankful for Kahr Talk. :D
Thanks everyone.

Ain't no ammo experts on GT, they all reside right here.
You did mention the G word more than the allowed 3 times per post (4) so I'm forced to put you on verbal probation for the first warning.
Give my best to Hoss and Mr. Cartwright, always hated Parnell.
Note of interest, before people started calling me bawanna I was a Little Joe too. Worked with a feller that was twice as big as me, so he was Big Joe and I was Little Joe. Never did visit the Ponderosa though. My aunt did get me their autographs though. I seen their guns and belt in the Cody museum. I was in awe.
Ok your verbal probation period is now over, carry on.

I've been on GT for a long time. There are some very knowledgeable and friendly folks over there. However, due to the fact that GT has a very large member base, you're bound to find a few douche bags on there with nothing better to do than start crap. Comes with the territory I suppose.

+1 OldLincoln. Your description perfectly captures the ambience of the KahrTalk forums. Its a friendly place. I've done some "lurking" on the GT forum, mainly to gather info about my G19, but I havent joined as yet... and probably wont. :)
Pretty much gotta agree with that. Been a member for years. I own Glocks and have been visiting a bit recently to pick up on opinions about the Gen4s and some late production Gen3 issues. Spent a fair amount of time on GT's Kahr forum pre-KahrTalk.
KahrTalk is a different, more friendly animal.

Been posting off & on at GT since March, 2005 - only 341 posts though, almost all on the Ruger & Kahr forums.
I've been posting mainly on three different Las Vegas boards and two Texas Longhorn sportsboards since 1998 - have somewhere around 50,000 posts altogether on those.
Have posted on 7 or 8 gunboards over the years with just a few score to a couple hundred each.
Ran into the worst a-holes & flamewars on the Vegas boards and a few on the sportsboards. Lots of entertaining drama early on, but that wore off several years ago. One Vegas board is pretty tight knit and we have made friends there - resulting in 2 or 3 meets in Vegas every year with 20-50 good folks from all over the country and several from the United Kingdom.
This board is one of the best & friendliest, even though I'm not very prolific here.
If in the unlikely event I ever drift to the Dark Side and buy a Glock, then please feel free to turf my behind outta here. :D

The worst flame wars I ever saw was the SQL (computer programming) Forms on Compuserve. There was a true genius in the pure sense of the word that came across as a snob with a bad attitude. Folks would post what they believed was an excellent SQL statement and ole Joe Celko would promptly tell them it was trash not fit to read. I'd cringe because I kinda knew Joe though some tutoring he freely gave me on a couple gnarly problems.
Joe would render a light years better statement that the uninitiated could not begin to understand, so they would trash him personally. Thing is he really IS a genius and had they asked nicely he would explain the statement and demonstrate how it was better. But instead they would pile on and try to dismember him. A few like me would push for an education but the mob wouldn't hear it.
Joe wrote a couple books and last I heard was retired in Florida (if I remember right). He helped me tons and I became an expert on a much different level but still quite good.
Point is, some folks may come across pretty strong but really do deserve a voice which should be heard. Even ole Jocko here, whom I believe is really a big teddy bear undercover. Bet he even pets stray kittens now and then.

You did well with it, even capitalized as most do. I generally don't, probably lack of respect for myself.
I often thought of changing my name to bob, one less letter to remember but the paperwork isn't worth it and then every Tom, ****, and Jocko wants to call you Robert which almost requires the dictionary or at least the baby naming book.

I thought I was the only one left that hung around the Compuserve forums in the early 90's. I was mostly involved with the aviation forums though, since the Navy taught me to fly in the 60's, and I've kept it up.
