I bought a new Kahr today but the purchase took sort of a circuitous route. Yesterday I found a like new compact HK USP 45 at Bud's. However, after the Detonics CM 45, I decided no new guns unless I sell something. The M&P compact 40 was at the top of the list because it was a 40, was black, and I had other pistols the same size for carry. I took the M&P to my LGS today, but they weren't especially interested in buying it because they had other used M&P's - so did Bud's. Both were thinking $250 which was about $150 lower than I was thinking. My guy said I'll do better on a trade. I checked the 45 case but the only smallish 45's were Kimbers, a Defender, a 3" SIG, and a CW45. I didn't really want another 1911, so I walked out with the CW on an even trade, but had to buy a mag. [I think Kahr's promotion is over, isn't it?]

This is actually my second CW45, but I only had the other one two months before I traded on a PM45. It's my sixth Kahr and the third currently in my possession. I really wanted another HK, but the CW is shorter in length and height, narrower, and weighs 5 oz less than the USP compact. If it's like my other Kahrs, it will be problem free.

BTW, I saved $200 over the HK.

Cool! I just looked at a picture of the HK USP Compact in .45 ACP. I believe the Kahr is more attractive to the eye as well.

Congratulations!

I had a USP compact 45 that was stolen, but it was a SS pistol and the one Bud's has is black. I was a sweet shooting gun and, for me, very accurate, which is why I wanted another. The CW45 is smaller and lighter and will be easier to carry, but holds two less rounds. If it shoots as well as my CW40, I'll be happy. For now I live with my HK USP 40 and HK45C.

Wish you had listed the M&P. My brother is looking for an M&P compact in Atlanta and had a MK9 Elite to trade for it.

I gotta' ask, what's the issue with your bothers MK9 Elite?

It was a last second decision. Although the M&P compact 40 had been 100%, I decided one morning I didn't want a black 40 anymore, so I packed it up and headed for BullsEye. I was hoping for a PM45, but they didn't have one. I didn't want another 1911, so the Kimbers, Defender, and Ultra SIG were out - I got the CW45.

BTW, my last two 40's, a CW40 and HK USP 40, aren't going anywhere.
