Sorry, but I fail to see the humor in your post. Being a police officer in a high crime area in Canton is a high stress job. The officer reacted badly to a high stress situation. Since neither you nor I know anything about the officer, I don't feel that either of us are in a position to judge him. I'm sure that IA and the courts will resolve the issue.

Sorry, but I fail to see the humor in your post. Being a police officer in a high crime area in Canton is a high stress job. The officer reacted badly to a high stress situation. Since neither you nor I know anything about the officer, I don't feel that either of us are in a position to judge him. I'm sure that IA and the courts will resolve the issue.

I think that posting the video of the Canton incident was inappropriate and failed the spirit of Christmas and the OP.

However, that Canton Officer is beyond defense, his equally stressed partner didn't threaten to execute anyone, a hundred other Canton Officers are equally stressed and didn't embarrass their brothers in arms and all of Canton. The guy belongs in jail or a psychiatric hospital. Gun charges against the driver were dropped.

His equally stressed partner? Did you have a stressometer on either of these officers. Did his partner do anything to calm the situation. Like I said, we know nothing about this officer. He may have had an exemplary record until this incident. How many traffic stops have you made in high crime areas at night. Everyone thinks that they know exactly how they will react under stress. From my experience most have trouble controlling their bladders. Lets let IA and the courts do their job.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it isn't anywhere near as dangerous as making a traffic stop in a drug infested high crime area in Canton, Ohio at 2 A.M. I know that for a fact because my nephew is a Canton police officer. Like I said let's allow Internal Affairs and the courts to make the determination, not news channel eight.

That could well be. All that I'm saying is that it's not for us to judge. That's the job of Internal Affairs and the Courts. The matter is being dealt with. Apheod could have posted this as an original post. He didn't have to hijack my thread on Christmas Day.

1. IA and the Courts blew it on previous occasions (yes, this ain't his first screw up)

You guys are making me awfully nervous about pulling the trigger. I would hate to have any of you sitting my jury. A man is supposed to be considered innocent until proven guilty. You people are hanging this officer on one video. I'll wait until all of the evidence is presented including any mitigating circumstances.

How many of you have been out looking for a job at 2 A.M. in a high crime and drug area in the company of a prostitute. I wouldn't want to have to explain that one to my wife.

He threatened to EXECUTE someone over an issue he was mostly to blame for, i.e., failure to IMMEDIATELY inform re his CCW. Note that charges were dropped quickly.
There probably are mitigating circumstances (PTSD?) but that takes him out of a long term felony and straight into a mental hospital.
