Opinions very, and there isn't a lot shooting to verify.
If everything works perfectly they can work very well.
There have been issues with lack of penetration.
Also the super light weight ammo may not drive the slide
and often is not very accurate. Plus super expensive.
Hard to shoot 200 rounds through an auto to verify operation.

I think Air Marshals used them for a while (Glaser),
but then switched to standard HP ammo.

For special purposes, apartment dwellers, thin walls, kids everywhere; it can make sense.
My way of thinking is they are for apartment/condo dwellers best fired from revolvers.

Additional Information:
I got some Mag Safe for my 357 and 38, as I live in a thin walled apartment.
At the range they seem to kick just like regular ammo.
Asked Mas on GT about it.
He highly recommends staying away from it and using standard ammo.
I have gone back to GDHP Short Barrel in the 38.
And Winchester PDX1 in the 357.

What Barth said. I've always been curious if they would even penetrate a leather jacket at 10'.

true lead free frangible ammo like clint smith requires on his range and some indoor ranges require. will penertrate 1/8" mild steel plate. i had to install 3/8" harden steel plate to get it to powder
. it leaves small chunks in my kahrs that are abraisive. what i played with is fiocchi 9mm & 40cal non toxic sinter fire frangible ammo. it cost 28.00 a box of 20

Glaser is not what I consider true frangible ammo or at least the frangible ammo designed for training. The stuff we have on occasion is just to avoid richochets and be able to practice on hard targets with less danger of injury.

I guess one could say there is carry frangible like Glaser and training frangible which to me wouldn't be worth a nickel for carry.

I use something called Corbon Beesafe. its got essentially shot in it. bad think is that its not made anymore. once corbon bought Glaser they dropped the Beesafe and now use Glaser's product instead.

The Beesafe has an epoxied hollowpoint tip thats full of little pieces of "shot". Their only like 92gr bullets and +p rated, but they DO work beautifully.

Here's a thread with a lot of discussion about MagSafe ammo:
