I picked up two Kahr's (CW9 and CM9) for gym shorts carry. If I have a belt on, I carry a full size gun, but that wasnt practical when in gym shorts. I played around with a million different gym shorts type holsters until I finally settle on the Galco Underwraps Bellyband. It fit my needs and did everything I wanted it to, with the exception of 3 things. 1. There was no hard trigger guard cover (It seems there has never been a problem with this, I just couldnt get there for appendix carry) and 2. The gun sat too low in the band to get a good firing grip, the gun would shift, etc). 3. The gun was too loose in the band when taking it off.
I played around with a bunch of ideas and settled on this, its not exactly what I want, but it solves those three problems.
I molded a small kydex insert around just the trigger guard and affixed it to the inside of the bellyband with some velcro. The draw is much better and consistent, the gun clicks into place and is held at the proper height. It also gives me some piece of mind that is only mental on my part.

I think that is a terrific idea and well executed! You can mold inserts for other guns and this solves a problem with all soft holsters. Also, If it flops around too much when running you can always use a rubber band to anchor it to a couple body parts. :)

The real way to do it is remove the leather backer, sew velcro to both sides, and re-sew, then you can swap holster inserts at will. I wont carry anything but a CW9 or CM9 in this, so it works for me.

This is a great idea. I have the same belly band. My problem is the painful imprint of the slide and mag release button pressed into my reddened, irritated ribcage after a couple hours of use. :(
