In the news today was the story of Benjamin Colton Barnes who was a former special forces soldier returned from Iraq with post traumatic stress disorder who shot and killed park ranger Margaret Anderson in Mount Ranier National Park while on the run following another shooting he was involved in at an earlier party...

The last paragraph in the article says that the shooting has renewed debate to reverse a recent law making it legal to carry firearms in a national park...

It seems to me the media will use any isolated shooting incident by a criminal to take away every other law abiding citizens rights...

Not only is a remote park dangerious due to wild animals they also seem to be where many criminals on the run go to hide out such as Eric Robert Rudolph who hid out in the Chattahoochie National Forest for many months before being captured...Another recent case in Georgia saw serial killer Gary Michael Hilton kill and decapitate his victoms in a National Forest...

IMHO if you don't have a gun in a national forest they should issue you one on the spot but in this case the Government wants to take your rights away because of one criminals act....

As usual the sad part is she had 2 small children and her husband is also a park ranger who happened to be working that day also.

Mourning bands in place till her service. Another sad day in Washington Law Enforcement.

Was the shooting at the party indoors? The same "logic" would have firearms banned indoors, right?
