Hi Everyone,
I have had a Kahr PM9 for a couple years. I love the pistol and it shoots really good. That being said, it works really good with the 6 round mag, but with the 7 round mag sometimes either the 2nd or 3rd round will jam against the feed ramp sometimes. One rack will load the round but I still don't like it. 115 gr ball ammo should feed seems like.
I wonder if anyone here has talked to Kahr about trading the 7 round mag for a 6 round mag? Also if this is possible what is the best way to go about this? I know, last resort is $40 from Kahr. Or has anyone figured a good mod for the 7 round mag.
Thanks for all responses,
James

Just email customer service and ask to exchange it, worked for me.
Or $27 online, I'll post a link later as I can never remember the site.

CTD is a great place to order from.
Also, some have found that by not gripping the 7rounder with their pinkie, the mag works well.

it but that second and third round thinbg sends me a message for u to check to see if the follower is not getting stuck a tad bit by the magazine release. There is a how to do it in the kahr tech section in the propper prepping of ur ew kahr, spend 5 minutes to test that out to see if by chance that could be ur issues, if not a call to kahr will get results for exchange. I personally hate that butt ugly 7 round mag in the PM9. It is a small defense gun and if one desires thqat 7 rounds, then one should have looked at the cw9 which has the flsuh fit 7 round mag. To me that 7 round magazine is more ugly than oprah winfrey on her best day..:banplease:

^^^^This...I think alot of the 7 round mag issues stem from how the user is gripping it.

Thanks for the tips on the better prices for a new Kahr mag.
Thanks for the info Jocko, I read your prep sheet and the mag follower was hitting the mag release. I checked the 6 round mag and it was no supprize that it was hitting also.
I almost wanted to file off the mag release arm a little bit, but though better of that, some wiggling around of the mag might let it drop out when I didn't want it to. So I went with taking the offending corner off the follower on my belt sander on the 7 round mag.
When I get time I'll run 100 rounds just through the 7 round mag and see how it works. As much as it was jamming up before that would be a good test. If that works out I will do the same to my 6 round follower also. I have had a couple jams on it, but only about 2 per 1000 rounds.
Also when I first got the pistol the follower spring was in backward in the 7 round mag. It was really bad then but after I turned it around it was better but still not good.
I'll report back how the mod works out. If not, I'll pick up a couple more of the 6 round mags. I like the looks of the anyways.
Thanks again all,
James

Update on the magazine follower mod.
I took 100 rounds of 115 grain ball to the range today. The 7 round mag still was jamming the 2 round down in a nose dive, so taking off the corner all the way down on the follower didn't help any. I fired 5 clips (35 rounds) and had 3 rounds nose dive jam.
I took my modified follower and put it in my 6 round magazine to see what it did. Then I shot the rest of the 100 rounds and they all fed 100%.
So looks like I'll call Kahr and see of they will make me a trade, if not I'll just pick up another 6 round mag from one of the sources that you guys gave me here.
I might be able to change the angle on the follower and make it work. The slide pushes on the top of the bullet rim to push it forward, and the way the bullets stack in the mag the bottom front of the bullet is unsupported, so it looks like its pushing the nose of the bullet down before it can push it forward. If I wind up stuck with the 7 round mag I might play with it, it shouldn't cost me much ammo to see if I can improve it anyways. Does anyone know if Kahr has upgraded any of the new mags for the PM9?
Thanks again,
James

My new PM9 7 rounder is also doing this, but I don't think how someone grips a pistol should affect its function. Its frustrating spending this much on a firearm and have to think about how you are holding it to have it operate as it should. I will be contacting Kahr and see what they say. I would just as soon exchange it for a 6 rounder.

LOL... its not how you grip it, its how you hold your mouth.... unless someone can give me a logical explanation to change my mind. Putting my little finger on the plastic part (that is made to put your finger on) doesn't move the magazine very much in the frame. Anyways I'm with you on this one Kodiak. I take it you and a lot of others are having the nose dive jams with the 7 round mag also? I'm supprized that Kahr hasn't addressed this problem yep, the PM9 has been out for a while now. Maybe the bad talk hasn't hurt their sales any, I'm sure they have to know there is complaints by now.
Anyways, I still like the pistol and I like its small size, and I like the way it shoots, I like the trigger, and the recoil is minimal for that small of a pistol. But like Jocko says, the 7 round mag is even butt ugly, but that would be ok for a extra pocket clip if it worked right.
