So I went and shot the CM9 today and had a small issue that occured several times. The second round would fail to go up the feed ramp and appeared to get caught on the front of the magazine. This happened several time with both the 6 and 7 round mags.
I started really watching the rounds as I loaded up the mags and made sure that the rear of the case was seated against the back of the magazine. After I did this it ran fine. I am a little concerned that it could occur again. It should be noted that I always usually tap the magazine to make sure the rounds are seated. Ammo used was standard winchester white box. Also noting that the Hollow Points are shorter in length than the target loads and this may not be an issue.
Has anyone had this problem?

Known here as "nose dive" with follower mods the usual fix.
With the dynamics of recoil I doubt the rounds tapped to be the back of the mag actually stay there, after the 1st shot.
But that's just me,

go to the kahr tech section and hit on propper prepping of ur new kahr, read down some and you willsee how to check to see if that follower could be grabbing that mag release button around round 2/3 in the magazine. U stated in that area so it cold be that. Easy to check out and easier to fix. concentrate on teh 6 round mag first,as the extended 7 round mags, so seem to cause issue. It is a butt ugly magazine and IMO u bought a compact gun, stick with the flush fit mags. If u get the 6 round mag running right, IMO just send the 7 rounds back and ask for a 6 round in exchange. test all magazine out for possable follower interuption...

Thank you, I read all the info and I verified that the follower does in fact contact the magazine catch. I will be modifying the followers.

Yes, lots of good info here about mags, catches, followers.
I hope you can solve your problem, let us know how it works out.
The follower/mag catch contact usually affects the 2nd from LAST round, not the 2nd (from the top) as you stated was/is your problem.

After reading up, I don't think that my follower is the issue. It seems to me that the second round in the magazine was getting shifted forward when the first round was placed into battery. Appearantly this is common for the gun. I am not sure if this is an issue with the target loads I was using or if I have a definite problem.
