View Full Version : Nightmare on Barth street

Well the 6 month nightmare is finally over.
My P220 is home.
I got a new box, slide, barrel, guide rod, spring, grips grip screws and some assorted extra parts?!?!? – LOL
The slide is stamped steel nickel plated like the old one, sort of.
It has no markings on it anywhere as to where it was made.
The original has U.S. markings.
The new slide weights a couple of OZs more and the rails look different?
Bad news - The Bar-Sto barrel still FTF.
Good news – the new slide and barrel from Sig shoots better than the originl!
Total cost - $25 for NS installation.
I’ve got an SRT for it.
But think I’m just going to carry it for now as is.
Felt tight at first. Like it needed to break in - again - LOL!
Running much smoother now after 200 rounds.
Actually, in factory trim, it's shooting better than ever before!
Happy New Year!

Congrats, Barth. That sounds good. Enjoy your "new" gun.
Wynn:)
Bar-Sto barrels have notoriously tight chambers. I know, as there are two HiPower ones here, two Govt Model ones here, and I also had a Model 39 with a BarSto.
Tell me, have they gotten the gang broach thing aligned, or does the rifling begin with all little steps in the lands.. (like they have done in past decades).
Anyway... love my Bar-Sto's but ya know... the Storm Lake barrels I just got do a fantastic job too, ditto the Wilson marked one I got for my Springfield Compact 4". Its perhaps the tightest of the bunch!
Call BarSto on the problems with the barrel... they may ease the chamber a little for ya.

I'm so tired of trouble at this point.
The Bar-Sto is super accurate, for a while.
I'm just going to use it as a range barrel.
Just got a Storm Lake 40-9mm conversion barrel for my Talo EXO Glock G27/40.
Have a second Storm Lake 357, 4.16" extended, dual ported, Isonite QPQ finish on stainless, barrel for it too arriving mid Feb.
My G27 is getting a Ghost Rocket 3.5 connector installed right now.
I'll give a Range Report when everything is done.
I've heard really good things about the Storm Lake barrels.
They are suppose to be drop in without fitting.
The Bar-Sto has had three different gunsmiths work on it...

Hey Barth, great to hear your P220 is back in business. They are to good to be idle.

Barth, I'm glad you finally got your baby back home.
I did buy one of the Travis Haley Skimmers and love it. I'll post a thread about it.

Haven't got my G27 back with the Ghost Rocket 3.5.
Have a new improved Ghost 3.5 drop in, a OEM 3.5 "-" and an NY1 spring on stand by - LOL!
I'm such a freak.
Got one of those Glock punch thingys too.
Saw a video and it looks like swapping connectors I can do myself.
Not sure about the spring.
The trigger is serrated but so far I like it like that.
Right now I'm just carrying and loving my Classic Sig Sauer P220/45.
When shooting with the new XS Systems Big Dot Sights and
hogue rubber combat grips. WOW I'm in love all over again!
Loaded the bad boy up with Winchester Ranger T-Series 230 gr.
Shot a box of the +P 230 Ranger Ts and they are HOT LOADS for sure.
After your gun blowing up I think I'll stick to standard pressure Ranger Ts.
Have an SRT kit for the P220 but I'm feeling very factory right now.
My P239/357 is getting the SRT kit as we speak.
Off Topic: My S&W 640-1 has a Stainless serrated trigger that's shredding me when shooting.
Having that ground and polished into a smooth narrow double action combat trigger - Woo Hoo!
Have +P and +P+ in 9mm for the G27 with a 40-9 Storm Lake conversion too.
Thinking I'll break in the barrel with 100 +P+ Winchesters and back off to
+P GDHP going forward - LOL!
