View Full Version : Unintended benefits from my CC weapon showing

I decided to wear my Charter Arms .44 snubbie in an OWB holster today, under a long lightweight jacket, and went to a sale today shopping for some electric guitar amps and speaker cabinets and PA stuff (I'm intending to turn my basement into a practice session/recording studio space and want to have some equipment available so folks don't have to lug their heavy amps around) and I was bent over looking at an amp on the floor and I guess the bottom of my holster was peeking out from under my jacket. The Seller asks me If I was a CC permit holder, and I informed him that I was and apologised for letting my gun show, and then he opened his jacket and showed me he had a Glock holstered on his side, and said he had his CC permit too. That kind of gave us some common ground to talk about, and all of a sudden prices started falling from what they were marked at. I know I saved a couple hundred bucks over what he had things listed at (I bought quite a bit of stuff). I guess the moral of the story is that sometimes letting your gun show can be a good thing. It was a sale of some music items from a widow whose husband recently died of cancer. I kept that in mind as we made our deals, and gave a decent amount for everything. A lot of stuff was marked higher than you can get it for elsewhere. Anyway, we both seemed happy with what I gave for the items I picked up. Ended up being a great day. Then I got home in time to watch Denver ruin the Steeler's day. The haters are sure going after Tebow over on ESPN tonight. I guess it's open season on Christians that show their faith anymore. Maybe he does go a little overboard sometimes, but I think it's great that someone has the guts to publicly give their thanks and credit for his abilities to our creator. I think Denver's run for this season is done after next week, but it's been fun watching the Tebow show this season.

Glad it worked out for you.
As a Chiefs fan, it pains me to see the Broncos have success, but I have to say that I pull for Tebow.
Not picking at you at all, but I find it amusing that we can say that a Christian "does go a little overboard sometimes" in his enthusiasm for God, but we see nothing wrong with grown men painting themselves strange colors, wearing no shirt in frigid weather, and screaming bloody murder over a (albeit fascinating) game.
I hope someday somebody accuses me of being "overboard" for Jesus.

That game had a great ending. A beautifully executed play. My G/F and I were watching it. When OT was about to start, she went outside for her hourly smoke and missed it. Still can't get her to quit. I'm looking forward to the next round of playoff games.

I like the Chiefs too, being from Kansas, I got a kick out of them beating Denver the last weekend. I have a lot of relatives in Denver, so I root for the Bronco's in the playoffs when they're in and the Chiefs aren't.
I don't have a problem with what Tebow does or says. You can express your faith however you want. I'm surprised at the hate that is poured on him. If you don't want to hear his message turn the channel. Some people take sports way too serious. It is just a game, though it's worth bazillions of dollars.
My relationship with God and Jesus are more personal to me. About all you hear me say is "by the grace of God", or "with the Lord's help" and "Thank you Lord" most of all, things like that. I testify about my little Christmas Eve "Miracle" to some folks, I think I posted it here somewhere. I just try to tolerate everyone, no matter what they believe in.
I was lucky the guy was a CC holder, or he might have got mad. It was in a place they were cleaning up for the widow to live, and I usually ask before I carry into someone's house, but figured it was a public sale so didn't bother asking.
I'm not a religious person.... but I will fully defend his right to express his beliefs. He's an outstanding rolemodel for today's "lost generation".
AND, he's just plain fun to watch on the field. I wish the best for him this year and for the rest of his career.
:cheer2:
Glad that you had such a nice day!

Glad you had a good day, and even if I'm not a church-goer, I don't fault Tebow for his religious displays. It's about time somebody presents a positive role model for American youth instead of them worshipping the tatted-up ganstas that seem to dominate the tv screen.

Being that my hometown is Knoxville, I was never a Tebow fan. However, I do applaud him for his stand on the Christian religion. I'm sure the 'haters' would say nothing if he was Muslim.
I not a pro football fan either, but I did enjoy seeing Denver beat Pittsburgh.

Being a picker as well, I'd love getting any discounts I could get! We think guns are high! Try buying a new Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1959 Les Paul (R9)!!!!. Marshall amps ain't too cheap either. Glad I got my JCM 800 back in the 80's! I also picked up a 1967 blackface vibrolux reverb a few years ago for a good deal. Got it for way more than the "reissued" PC board one. It's become my go-to amp. Righteous tone. I love the smell of a vintage amp cookin. I'm sick, I know.:D
I think it is great that Tebow does what he does. He walks the walk, doesn't just talk the talk. People have no problem with drug-doing, bar-brawling, womanizing NFL-ers, but one that is an all around good guy and loves his maker, they gotta start crap about. Talk about tribulation, Sheez!
Tebow himself is cool, although still a work in progress. I can really get behind the refreshing change from the too usual, see above.
What's driving me nuts is the over the top fan/media frenzy.....especially since they usually fail to recognize, hence diss, the contributions of the rest of the team.

I not only appreciate Tebow's stand for his beliefs in his Savior, but I admire his consistent testimony to his humanity, his limitations, and to the contributions of his team mates and coaches. He's the first to admit he's not perfect....thus the reason for his need of sharing Someone Who IS perfect....
