....just what the heck is that little articulated piece of plastic in the left side of the case between the magazine & the pistol muzzle? I'm kinda embarassed to ask the question, but I have no idea what it's for.

It is a trigger lock, you use it along with the padlock that is inside it he white box.

Trigger lock maybe, what's in the white box. I don't remember what came with mine if it was a cable lock or a trigger lock.

Damn that KMA is one quick one for sure. Black on black, kind of hard to tell. The lock, not KMA.

Yep, cheap but serviceable and legal trigger lock.

I just toss the trigger lock and white box in the back of my safe. They seen to be multiplying back there, because I noticed over the weekend there are more white boxes now than I have Kahrs.

If you take that white book out of the plastic you'll have all kinds of neat info at your fingertips too.

Well damn, you mean I'm supposed to read the instructions? :p

Yes, the little white box has a tiny padlock in it, but that black plastic gizmo on the left looks like some kind of Chinese puzzle to me.

Interesting that Kahr padlock is for the size of the gun.

The little Ruger LCP .380 I bought a couple years ago came with one of those huge bicycle type locks that weighs several times the loaded pistol. Could probaby knock out a perp with it. Go figure.

http://www.gunblast.com/images/Kahr-45s/DSC00002.JPGA left side and right side trigger safety which has a hole for a lock. They press fit on to the shape of the trigger.

I have heard of new owners using the left side (it fits snugly) by it self as an alternative to a thumb safety. Its pretty easy to push it out with your trigger finger when you prepare to shoot. If you're a left handed shooter
, use the right side.

Subcompact gun, subcompact trigger lock. Who da thunk it?

Those trigger locks are not interchangeable. I have 5 Kahrs and the four polymer-framed ones came with locks which fit only that particular pistol. Each is a little bit different, so make sure you try the one with the pistol you plan to use it on, if traveling or something... before you leave with the wrong one! A P might fit a CW in the same caliber, but I don't know.

Am I the only one who thinks the design and functionality of that lock is great?

That's one solid, well fitting unit when it's installed.

Perhaps. Mine have always gone straight to the trash.

I am not a big fan of trigger locks, but I think these are OK.

Don't get me wrong, I don't use it... but I did have to try it out and found the design well thought out. :)

That said, I'd have no problem using it if need be.

Well thanks Triggerman, so that's how that contraption actually works.

Speaking for myself and my own needs, that thing is about as useful as t*ts on a boar hawg. ;)

I don't think any gun lock is intended to be used when carrying, but for securing the gun at home, with children in the house or when transporting it.

I don't think any gun lock is intended to be used when carrying, but for securing the gun at home, with children in the house or when transporting it.The two molded plastic inserts are only part of a system. You fit them to the trigger and trigger guard, then you insert a lock and then you finally have a trigger lock.

Using one half of the plastic w/o and lock is a whole different deal. It actually works.

Here's something similar http://www.thegunzone.com/glock/stb.html

.....and have miraculously transformed it into an ergonomically unfriendly, expensive brick. I have no use whatsoever for trigger locks. There are better, less lazy ways to deal with securing a weapon.

LOL! "First let me safety check here" he says, as he drags the gun out of its case by hooking a finger inside the trigger guard and pulling on it.

Then, at 0:53, he points the gun pretty much directly at his own face/chest, for no good reason that I can determine.

Reading the owners manual goes a long way toward curing ignorance. Aw, there I go again, assuming that he can read. (Sound of hand slapping forehead.) :)

Naw, just hate to open the little plastic envelope the manual resides in.
