new member, got new cw45 UPDATEd with pics

wanted to start by saying hello,,great site..I own other kahr pistols,,no problems..wife bought me a new cw45 for xmas for late bowhunting season,,(I usually carry a cm9 in my harness pocket,,wanted something bigger!),,took to range xmas day.
lubed,prepped,all that good stuff..used slide release for first try out loaded and the gun would not go into battery without being forced(had to hit with palm of hand til red..):7: shot and ejected fine ,,2nd round in mag would not go into battery,,as time went on it got harder and harder to go to full battery..called kahr,told them i am a previous kahr owner with no problems ever..they told me sounds like the frame is no good..sent back and waiting.will let u guys know what it is when i get it back..kahr custmer service is really good,sent me a label in 5 minutes..pistol has the same recoil as my glock-19,,actually might even be less!! can"t wait to get it back!! also hoping to make this my edc..

thanks,,gun feels perfect in the hand,,I usually carry a cm9 in a desantis nemesis pocket holster in summer and g-23 in winter..hopefully I will be carrying that cw45 soon!!

Wow, every time I read a post like this I wonder if I was just lucky.
My CW45 worked flawlessly out of the box and continues to after over 700 rounds.
It makes me sad sometimes to read these because I know what a superb weapon it is and want everyone else to see also.
However, Kahr has excellent CS and will make it right.

Same here. Mine is right at the 500 round mark and hasn't missed a step.

Whenever I have problems getting rounds to go into battery... I try to do a manual check - barrel removed, dropping rounds freely into the chamber to see how they fit.

Wondering if the chamber nickel is a bit "frosted"....

Been lucky so far too - PM45black - after breakin, no shooting problems (other than that frame rail thing, and it still worked even with that) PM45silver - zero problems, PM9J no problems. The first one was new, second two "preowned". First had a few failures going fully into battery in the first 50 rounds, after that, no issues (except some very short rounds didn't feed, handloads, so they dont count).

kahr e-mailed today that it will be fixed today or tomorrow,,hopefully i will get it back by friday..I bought it because I heard how good they are..I guess you can get a lemon in anything..

called kahr today,,gun did not need to be replaced,,they told me the gunsmith polished and lubed it,,fired it 6 times,,and it is good to go..said it will be at my house tomorrow..as soon as i get will go to range..

gun came today,,took it straight to the range..took out of box and shot 40 rounds of american eagle fmj..not one single failure!! gun was flawless..shipped gun out on dec.28th,,got back today..very happy..wish I had more ammo,,it was cold and snowing anyway..great gun.

I'm glad to hear your service experience, I too have a CW 45 & have about 300 rounds thru it. only problem was about the 250 mark my slide stopped locking open on empty chamber, called Kahr , tech said snug the spring screw in & should be ok. I did that & it happened again @ the range the other day. I reset the spring this time with a little more angle into the hole with out the pin in, rather than how he told me to do it with the pin in to hold it over, & resnugged the screw. It seems snugger now & you feel it snap into the groove @ the pins begining right behind the thumb lever, & it doesnt come out like it was, it's more like when I first got it. Other than that it always goes boom anyway ! I also sent mine in & had the Trijicon night sight package put on it, it.s sweet ! Not noticable in the day time & just enough @ night with a soft green glow. Love how this little gun shoots, so does my son & wife, almost as smooth as my Colt 1911, but not quite ! Thats saying alot for a Polymer frame & 3.64 " barrel compared to an all steel frame & a 5 " barrel ! Best of luck with your new pistol !! I love mine !

Great to hear that you are happy with your CW45. I had a few failure to feeds in the first 200 rounds. It has been perfect since then. I have put another 500 rounds through it with no problems.
