I picked up a couple of new factory Kahr mags for my CW9, standard size. The problem I'm having is that they feel bloated. The dont drop freely and when inserting into the gun there is some resistance. They load ammo fine and function fine with no feeding issues but my only complaint is that they dont drop at all. When I hit the mag release they drop about 5mm and thats it.
Any ideas? I'm considering giving them a little squeeze in a vise but before I do I wanted to ask.
Thanks
Steve

SteveThat is the fix, a little squeeze in a vise or pliers.

Well, that's a potential fix. I'm not convinced its a magazine issue, rather a frame issue. If your gun functions 100% I'd leave it be or send it to Kahr and let them fix it.

But the original mag works perfect. I'm gonna break out the calipers and take some measurements and report back.

Is this a common problem/fix?

Is this a common problem/fix?Yes, do a search on the forum. There is lots of talk about it. The mag just needs a tiny squeeze at the top. Not much force is needed. Do a little squeeze and test it. Many here have done it and have been very successful. I put some blue painters tape on my pliers to prevent scratching, did a little squeeze, and was 100% perfect from then on. Personally, I don't think it is a gun problem. I think it is a mag problem.

I'll just say this and leave the thread. If it's a mag problem then why do all my magazines drop from my MK9 but none drop from my PM9? If it was a magazine problem, one would think it would be an issue in both guns since they use the same magazines.
I called Kahr on this issue and they, too said if an owner wants the magazines to drop free to send the firearm in and they will fix it. They do not recommend anyone sand, bend, or otherwise modify the weapon to get the magazines to drop free, but will of course be glad to fix your screw up on your dime if you send it in.

Kahr will make sure its fixed in the frame (without screwing it up). The beauty of that is all future mags you may purchase will work.

Steve This will happen once per month and your Kahr will be a real "B" to be around. Thread carefully, always agree.:)

You guys crack me up! I just cant get away from the "visitor"! :D
I guess I'll Kahr and see what it takes to send it back. Thunder71 makes a great case, I dont want future mags to have the same problem. I just dont like being without my CW9. Its my favorite EDC and goes everywhere.

I believe I red somewhere that kahr magazine's are not drop safe like other manufacturer's.And they are not designed to drop free so your mag's dont break.

I had similar issue,,, When the CW was warm, as in next to my body it dropped free. However if it sat awhile on the bench it would not drop. Confirmed this a few times. Sqeezed mag and it helped till i got another mag same thing.. So i took down the guide rails in the frame a bit and now all is good.
So my opinion is its in the frame.

Similar issue, Kahr is having me send my CW9 back, saying that it is a problem with the frame. I will see what they say. It is only with the factory 8 round mag, I have to slam it in, it will not drop freely and I must use my 2 thumbs to depress the mag release to get the mag out. They said this is a problem that they have been aware of and to send the gun in for repair. It is a recently made one too.
