Hey folks, it's been a long time since I've been on here, but it's nice to see some of the same folks hanging around. So, hello to all I know and don't know.

I'm sure it's been covered, but I only have internet access at work(that had blocked any sort of gun site for a long time) so I don't have a lot of time to look around.

My issue: Extended mags won't feed 1st round while gun is cold. They will after a few rounds have been put through it at the range, but not otherwise. I've tried different ammo too. I've seen a couple of different approaches, one involving modifying the follower and one that adds a bevel to a part of the slide.

My question: What mods are considered mandatory for making this gun more reliable? It shoots and functions great with regular mag so it may not need anything, but to have the ext. mags swapped for flush ones. BUT, as with anything else, I want to go way overboard on making it better.

The top of the extended base plate may fit too tightly against the bottom of the grip or the magazine catch notch may be slightly out of tolerance... maybe needs a few light strokes of the proper-sized file on the top of the magazine notch to allow good retention. The mag catch itself could be slightly out of tolerance.

You can remove the slide and observe insertion of magazines and see if there's good retention or if the mag impinges on the bottom of the slide or something.

The lower leading edge of the slide that acts as the "stripper" should have a slight bevel so that it will slip behind the top cartridge, not stay on top of the rim.

If the poly base plate seems too tight, you can lightly rub it as needed on a sheet of medium sandpaper laying on a flat surface... careful... can't put back if too much removed!
