New to the site, lots of good info here.

I've been looking at the CW9 for my new EDC. Stopped by a local gun shop to hold one and check it out. They had some marked as "blemished" that were about $50 less than regular new price. The guy behind the counter said they looked them over and cant find the problem?? The gun is marked with a "B" in the serial number. He said he believed it should be cosmetic, not affecting the function of the gun.

I searched on here but didn't find an answer, can someone explain the blemished thing?? Is it worth saving $50 or should i just buy new??

Thanks!

In all likelihood, you won't be able to see the blem. I assume you'll be using the gun and probably muck it up within a week anyways. All my guns are tools and wear shows character. I say buy it and put the fifty spot, towards ammo.

I'd wouldn't mind spending $50.00 less for a "blemished" gun on which I could not see/find the blemish.

I bought a PM9 last year off gunbroker that is marked "B". I didn't realize that it was a blem until a while after I received it. The mark on the frame is very shallow and difficult to see. The only difference I can see is that the rollmark on the slide isn't as deep as the one on my P9. Other than that, the gun has functioned perfectly for over 400 rounds. So I would have to say that the difference in the blemished guns is only cosmetic. If knowing that you have a factory second bothers you, I would spend the extra $50. If not, you can take that cash to pick out a holster or use on ammo.

I got one too, and now the "B" is covered by a CT laserguard. I never see it, and the blem cant be found either. I say go for it, CW9 is one of the best(2nd to the PM9) LOL

It means that it has some cosmetic defects. It is nothing that would affect the firearm function.

I can't find the reason my K9 is marked as a "blemished" gun. It was an incredibly good deal and has proven to be reliable.

Blemish = some cosmetic flaw.
These are excellent deals. Unlike "U" marked guns, the "B"s come with a new warranty. Save the $50, IMHO, buy the gun.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat. I don't mind buying blemmed items for tools like an EDC. Now if it was a prized safe queen revolver or 1911, probably not.

The "B" should not be part of the serial number but an individual stamp on the frame. Everything else that needs to be said has been said. It's definitely cosmetic so if you don't see it and they don't see it I don't think there's anything to be concerned with.

If your looking at potential resale (some people actually sell guns) it might hurt that value a tiny bit if the buyer knows about the B but if your looking to use it as a carry gun and hang onto it I'd go for it.

I was under the impression that a blemished gun was warranted for only one year nstead of 5. If so, that $50 saved might not be a real bargain.

I thought that was the "U" marked guns with the 1 year warranty but I can't say for certain either. I could be way off on that one. Pure speculationg on my part.

I might head down to our local gunshow now and search for a B marked kahr as a personal challenge or anything I can buy with 27 dollars and 67 cents.
I suspect the findings will be slim indeed. Maybe next month.
