Hey guys, first post here.
I picked up my CM9 this past Saturday at the Dixie Classic Gun & Knife Show at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. I was there volunteering with Grassroots North Carolina, a local gun rights advocacy group.
I'd wanted a CM9 for awhile, so I took one of my CZ-52's to the show with me looking to trade. I was able to find a small vendor who had quite a bit of Eastern Bloc stuff in his case, including 2 of the CZ's, so I figured he'd be interested in mine. (It has a custom hard chrome finish, a shop near Charlotte did a run of them back in 2005 and I nabbed one.) Well the guy's eyes lit up when he saw the CZ, and we eventually agreed on a $100 difference for the CM9. So if we assume the Kahr was $390, which is the cheapest I saw them at the show, then I got $290 for the CZ, which I was very happy with. Heck it's almost twice what I paid for it.
I also bought a 7-rnd mag. I went out to the range on Monday morning and put 150 rds of FMJ and another 50 rds of mixed defensive ammo through the Kahr. The only hiccups I experienced were two incidents of nosedives on the 7-rd mag, which I sort of expected after reading about them here. I'll get that sorted out. Aside from that the Kahr performed flawlessly, and fed both Gold Dots and Ranger-T's just fine.
After primarily carrying various 9mm Makarov pistols and .380s for several years, I decided to switch to 9x19 for primary carry last year, and picked up a Taurus PT-709. The CM9 wasn't out yet then, so it was between that and the Ruger LC9, and I liked the Taurus better, especially the trigger. I also considered the Kel-Tec PF-9, since I've had a couple P32's and now have a P3-AT, but the trigger on the Taurus won out.
Despite the bad rap they seem to get, the Taurus has actually been great, accurate and reliable for the 800 or so rounds I've fired through it. But the CM9 is a cleaner design, and even more compact, and I've been itching for one ever since they became widely available.
I'm very pleased with my purchase so far.
