They take a perfectly good 30/30 and hang a bunch poly crap on it and call it tactical. :eek:A 30/30 is a great rifle and has quite possibly bagged more deer than any other rifle but it will never be tactical. The word tactical means nothing more than marketing ploy for the mall ninja types. I'm sure any day now we'll see tactical condoms for those real manly men.:rolleyes:

Actually I would claim that the lever action was and still is very very tactical. It was developed after all to allow the tactical user to load and fire at a much more tactically rapid pace.

That's tacticool all right holds 6 rounds of slow and hard to load ammo by todays standards and that's if you don't drop half of them trying to load it. It was a good rifle in it's day against arrows and tomahawks and certainly a deer has never been overjoyed about being on the pointy end of one. Would still be good if that's all you have. Like I said great rifle, but tactical???

Somehow when I think of tacticool rifles. A rifle that is suppose to give it's operator and advantange over his advisaries. My mind just does not see a 30/30 lever action rifle bogged down with a lot of plastic crap hanging on it. Seems to me like if I wanted or needed to spend money on a tactical rifle that would give me the adantage over the BG's there just might be a few better choices out there for me to consider.

I have a Marlin 336 30/30 (Circa 1981) I love it to death. It's a pretty little thing with it's wooden stock blued barrel and reciever and shoots like a dream, but tacticool it isn't. Some things are just better being left alone.
