What great combo! Gun gits my hand SO much better! I highly recommend this combo.

Had to trim down the Hogue and make it shorter for my tastes.

Damn........that PM9 sure looks good finished like that.

If for any reason you feel you might want a lower profile than what the Pearce gives you and still have the functionality of the finger grip, check out the CW9 base plate.

Nice. Love the Hogue grip on my PM9 as well.

Kahr offers the CW9 plastic base plates on their web site as a spare part.

Alternatively, you can sand down the somewhat less expensive Pearce base plate to whatever size you like. If you use 600 grit for the final sanding, the finish will look very smooth, almost like it was molded in your custom shape. ;)

How does the grip extension hold up under use? I've heard mixed reviews on plastic extensions.

Sure looks good though - would like to do a grip extension on my MK9

ok im confused. you said my CM 9s metal base plates can be replaced by the CW 9s plastic extended ones?

is this the ones you mean?

if so why does it say that it wont work with metal baseplates...

Hard to say. They slide right on. You do need to use the plastic part included rather than the original metal locking plate.

Just did the same thing to mine. I don't grip with the pinky when shooting, but it's a little easier to draw from my Crossbreed with that extra extension. Love the rubber Hogue style grips though. Also got an Ergo grip for my AR when I ordered that other stuff.

It make take a bit of adjustment by sanding the top of the plastic base... using a sheet of sandpaper laying on the table to evenly (and carefully!)remove enough material to insure that the magazine will fit and lock securely into place. The listing at Kahr, which is cheaper than buying the two parts separately, says it's not for metal-based magazines. You just have to make sure it will lock securely in the pistol.
"Polymer Magazine Base Kit (9 mm and .40 S&W)

Kahr polymer magazine base kit for 9mm and .40 S&W allows for the replacement of your existing polymer base. Will not fit on Kahr magazines with a steel base. "

Or you could modify the base you already have. I copied the work that mightymouse did on his CM and love it.

I use the same combo on both my Pm9 and MK9. I'm no good with a two finger grip and I have never had a problem with any of the extended grips, either the Pearce or the Kahr.

im assuming you mean modify the metal part that sits on the bottom of the spring to work with the plastic baseplate? my mags only came with metal baseplates so i have to buy plastic ones.

I'm looking for something in between... The Pierce looks a little too long. I was looking for something about the size of the one on my LCP. Anyone have anything???

They are plastic and easy enough to cut/sand down. Use 600 grit or finer for finishing and the results are very attractive to my eye. :)

No, the Pearce has it's own plastic piece to replace the metal lock plate. You just sand the finger rest off till you get it like the one in the pic.

But, yes, you will have to purchase a Pearce extension as a starting point. They are a little less expensive than the Kahr parts and usually sold in pairs so you can experiment without concern. ;)

mspiredm3: Thank you. I have been chasing this dog down the street for a long time. I just bought a Hogue jr. and installed it upside down on my PM9. It needed a small amount of trimming to avoid mag release button blockage. I put the grip on, used a piece of plastic ( I cut this from the packaging the grip came in) and slid it under the grip where it needed trimming to protect the polymer Kahr grips from my razor blade trim job. Worked perfectly. Much nicer for my large hands. No change in holster or pocket carry. Life is good.
