Trade cm9 for SA micro compact?

Considering trading my cm9 for sa micro compact. Wanting to go to a 45 for edc and like the feel of the SA. Is it a good switch or should I consider another? opinions appricated, thanks

other thabn not going to ride in ur front pocket. GO FOR IT. U stated ur reasons for wanting it, so I sure won't try to talk u out of it. Ihave a G19 tuned and it is my most accurate handgun I have ever shot, but it is my home defense gun also and range gun for hitting somethig when I aim at it. but for 24/7 carry and total confindence in the gun going bang, MY PM9 is my top choice

I'd keep the Kahr and save for the .45. Get you a decent 1911 or G30 for IWB/OWB carry when you're not carrying the CM9 and dress/occassion permits the larger gun/caliber. Best of both worlds.

I consider the CM9 a true "pocket pistol' i.e. a gun you can actually,
easily, carry in your pocket (not a cargo pocket with a reinforced belt).

My MK40 is small enough for pocket carry. But really a little too heavy.
Particularly with soft dress slacks and belt.

I don't think any micro 45 will be any better than my MK40.
I would check the weight of your 45 of choice before making the swap.

Seems like around 15/16 oz unloaded is about max for true pocket carry.
No 45 I'm aware of meets that weight.
And I'm not sure I would want to shoot it if it did.

Also 45s were developed for 5" full size guns.
And they are sub sonic even from 5".
New ammo works well at lower velocities.
But when your running a 3" barrel in these micros the 45 really suffers compared to a 40/357 sig/9mm.
It just doesn't have that much velocity to give up in the first place.

Look closely at the ballistics of rounds.
And make sure you're looking at a 3.0" barrel.
Before you run with the pack to this micro 45 fad.

if i were you i'd check out the new springfield armory XD'S' "slim", its .45acp and due out in march, 9mm and .40 to come after.

CM9... perhaps one of the best concealed weapons available today, certainly it reflects the best value.

Micro-1911 type... hmmm.

Tell ya what. I'm on my third Officer's ACP. First was an original - one of the first released. Second I built by shortening a Commander. Third is Colt/Caspian and I've got that one still. Take off four ounces with an alloy frame. Take off another two and a half to four ounces for a slightly shorter slide and barrel, and you still have a heavy pistol.

On the other hand, the PM45 is almost dangerous in that its so light and compact, one has a tendency to forget its even being carried, and as such may wander into "forbidden zones"....

Brother, I'd get the gun you want, but keep that CM9 close at hand - dont give it up.

SA Micro Compact has an abysmal reliabilty record. I like small 1911's but that ain't the one. I sold mine and had a difficult time finding a buyer.
