Well got my new cw40 in today. This is the 2nd one I have owned. The first one I had was a good shooter with around 300 rounds and not one problem. I took my new one down and cleaned and lubed it. Took it outside and shot 2 rounds and the mag released. Seated it again and released again on the 4th round. I don't think I'm hitting the release. I could not run a full mag without dropping the mag at least twice. Like I said I never dropped a mag out of the first cw40 I owned. What's up with this. I can put the mag in the gun and can't pull it out without the release. I have to push pretty hard on the release to get it to let go. Do you think I need to replace the mag catch or anything else?
Thanks Wayne
Admin, I just realized I posted this in the wrong place. How do I move it to the cw forum?

I believe the usual test is to try shooting left handed, just to make sure you are not hitting the release.

If the problem persists, call Kahr. Describe the issue. They may send a new catch and spring, which are easy to install.

If they insist on you returning the gun, insist that they provide a prepaid shipping label.

Best of luck!

put the magazine loaded in the gun, now see if u can physically pull the magazine out of the gun. If not, my bet is that your thumb might be hitting the mag release button. shoot it left handed to test out.

seomtimes threreis just a burr on magrelease button, try slammng the magazine in a few dozentimes to see if that helps. also with the magazineout of the gun notice how the magbutton is flushon the right side. If with a loaded magazine this button on the right side seemsto be not flush then it is indeed not seatingin the mag cutout correctly and maybe a new mag release button is needed. Takes 5 minutes to install, thereis a tutorial on the kahr tech section even, . a call to kahr will normaly ge tu a new releawse button. test these things out frst before calling kahr.

I'll do these test tomorrow. I put the loaded mag in all the way in till it clicked and holding the gun to simulate firing, I can't push the release button to release the mag unless I shift my grip and turn the gun to the side a little. I noticed when I first went out to shoot it, the release button was very easy to push. Now it seems it is much harder. Oh well, I shoot some more in the morning and see waht happens.
