My Bersa Thunder 9HC has been having extraction issues from the start. They sent me a new extractor (machined properly this time), but when I tried out some snap caps it was even worse.
If I'd gotten the CW45 instead of the Bersa, I could be joining all you CW45ers online talking about its unique issues.

Yup that too! Much better than the hug.
Who here among us has not experienced Buyers Remorse? Let them cast the first stone. The rest of us will just quietly nod our heads and be thankful it wasn't us this time.

WELL... I sorta had buyers remorse when the wife said she couldn't reliably rack the slide on the second K9 that I bought when she touched the first one and the first words out of her mouth were I know which Kahr I'm going to carry. Then I learned I could fix that issue with a couple of springs so now I don't have that remorse any more.
Then I bought a Ruger SP 101 and sure enough she said HEY I think I'll carry that one so.. I naturally set out to find another one. Then maybe I got a touch of remorse when I found one I could have gotten a bit cheaper.. but naahh I am happy with what I got and only have envy of others having stuff I aint got... yet.
Just the same I wont be casting any stones because sure enough the next purchase would result in some serious remorse.

Let me see... I must be one of the lucky ones as it has only happened once, well maybe twice, in my 67 years of life where the dream turned out better than the reality. Yeah, right! :)

Amen to that! And don't forget the various flavors of Taurus.
I can sympathize with John though as Bersas generally have a good rep. Not so with Taurus and some KT's.

Funny, my PF-9 has been more reliable than my Bersa.
I put the old extractor in my Bersa and it cycles snap caps normally. Methinks it's something else going on.

My PF9 was very ammo finicky - It didn't like anything I liked.

Found out the new extractor still isn't made right. I'll call Eagle Imports tomorrow and order another new one.

Lot of PF9 owners here - do they kick as bad as I hear they do? I've seen them compared to 38 snubbies in that they're not range guns and anything over 50 rounds will make your hand/wrist hurt.

I have used my PF 9 sparingly after the first 300 rounds as it is uncomfortable to shoot for a long range session. Compared to a CW9 the PF9 has more recoil but is just overall not near the quality of Kahr. Mine had issues like mags dropping and feeding problems. Kel-Tec customer service was good and at $249 the PF9 was a purchase I do not regret. I generally keep it in my vehicle as a backup to my primary carry weapon.
Selling my Bersa .380 was one of my regrets. That gun was flat out accurate and reliable. But, allas some other pretty piece of hardware came along and stole my heart/wallet. Such is my fate that I'll doomed repeat.

I sold mine when I bought my first Kahr, a CW9. That was five years ago and what I mostly remember was that It didn't like WWB and various other ammo. It couldn't have been too bad on recoil, but then, I'm not especially recoil sensitive.

That's my plan. I cycled snap caps till I got bored, today. They all popped out normally. I took the slide off, the barrel out, and held an empty casing against the breech to see how well the extractor grabbed the casing rim, and it couldn't really grab it any better than it does; i.e. the casing will not pull free from the extractor. So as the slide moves back the casing has to come with it, unless something's keeping it from clicking into place around the rim.

Mayby the extractor spring is weak and it's letting the extractor slip off of the case rim

Hey John, which one does your extractor look like?
Some folks on BersaChat say the one on top is correct and the one on eht bottom has extract issues.

Yeah, I checked that photo too. I have one of each. :) My thread titled "Am I limp wristing" talks about it.
The one with the deeper claw is supposedly the "new" one, but that's the one that doesn't work. The claw's overall reach is a tiny bit shorter than the old one. It doesn't even protrude into the chamber.
I thought about the spring too. It's a dual spring, one inside the other, and the small one seats in an indentation in the extractor. It's so small I can only imagine whether it's properly seated or not, but I've taken it out and put it back so many times you'd think it would seat properly at least once.
