Since today turned out beautiful I decided to take my new TP45 to the club range and start the break in process. I took 50 200 gr Ranier SWC loads and 50 of my Speer 185 HP loads.
50 rounds through each of the 2 magazines later I have some observations.
The Good
1. Recoil is milder than my LDA c7-45 with either load. This is a very pleasant gun to shoot as far as recoil goes.
2. Performance was 100%
3. accuracy was more than acceptable. At 25 yards from about a half and half mix of offhand and rested 90 of the 100 rounds were in a big raggedy 5 inch high by 3 inch wide hole just left of my aiming point. The other 10 I managed to scatter around with poor gun control but none left the 8 x 10 sheet of paper the aiming point was on.
Now the Bad
At the end of 100 rounds I had a rubbed spot on the web of my right hand just to the right of and forward of my thumb knuckle. If I had continued for another hundred rounds it would have drawn blood. There are sharp rough corners on both sides of the back of the frame where it rides on the top of the web of the shooting hand.
However it only took about 10 minutes and a little sand paper to round those 2 corners so that it should not happen again.
For those among you who feel that it is sacrilegious to take sandpaper to a brand new gun you may want to shoot with gloves on.
All and all I really like this gun.
