I do not like pocket carry, so weight is a non issue. That being said, would you get a used (don't know the history, but great cond) MK9 or go with a new CM9 and why?

I own a mk9 so my opinion might be biased but they have fewer issues than the cm9. The mags drop free without using pliers to squeeze the top and the frames don't flake off. Just a better gun to me.

some might consider a mag not dropping free an issue, I never did in my PM9 I know the mod but choose to not do it. Both great guns. give me the cm9 any day, as I pocket carry and no MK series compares for the weight factor.
unlessone carrys a spare magaazinewhich Iam not sure what percentagethat really is amag not dropping on the ground if the mag button is hit etc, might just be a damn good thing ina gun fight. I also consider myself very fast in extraction of my PM9 mag which drop about maybe 1". Nothing wrong withy being biased either, as u can see I am.

MK9, man I love mine in a Silent Thunder - match made in heaven.
The MK9 2003 Elite is a very nice gun. Yes, it is a little heavy for its size, but it helps to control the recoil during rapid fire and when shooting +p ammo.

I have both an MK9 and a PM9. IF pocket carry is not an issue, as you say it is not, I would not hesitate to buy the MK9. Sweet little shooter and completely reliable. I love mine ... and I DO pocket carry the PM9.
The one thing about a used MK9 is that in the unlikely event that you don't like it, or decide that you would rather pocket carry a CM9, you can always sell it for what you paid as a used gun. You have no financial depreciation to suffer ... translates into no risk!
The MK9 also has better laser options, if you want that feature (crimson trace grip laser).
Again, except for pocket carry ... it's a no brainer for me. Get the MK9.

Not knowing the history I would opt for buying new.

Yes, I'm bias for sure.
But I truly believe the all stainless steel Kahrs are among the very best of the entire Kahr line.
They are heavy to carry in a pocket.
But on a belt? No problemo!
Plus the extra weight really soaks up the recoil.
The fit and finish of my stainless MK40 Elite is outstanding.
It's like a Swiss watch.
And even in 40 it is pleasant and controllable to shoot.
The 9mm version just has to be dreamy.
If the MK's in like new condition?
And pocket carry isn't an issue?
This is a no brainer.
Get the MK and don't look back!

Get both since you live in N.J.
My CM9 has been great though.

A couple of folks have mentioned recoil.. Is the implication that the felt recoil of the CM9 is so much more that one would practice or train less as a result?

If the recoil on the CM9 is the same as the PM9 (and it should be), then I'd say it shouldn't be a factor, I could shoot my PM9 all day long.

What exactly is the appeal to such a small gun if there is no intent to pocket carry?
Don't get me wrong I would love to try out an MK9 to see how it feels but I pocket carry a K9 and if I got the MK9 it would be for pocket carry. Somehow I don't think I would prefer the MK over the K or even like it well enough that I would buy it unless I just had tons of money.

The MK9 is extremely easy to conceal and carry IWB.

As is my K9. or the Wifes CW9.

Perhaps it would be a good idea if you held a MK9, then you will understand what I mean.

I have both and I shoot both. I see no noticable difference between the 2 with regards to recoil. I purchased the MK9 after the PM9 so the first time I shot it, I was quite surprised that there was no difference in recoil. Just my opinion for what it's worth. Oh yeah, I carry the PM9 90% of the time.

Greetings; I have/had a few Kahrs. CW9 (sold), K9, MK9, and just acquired a PM45. Bought the PM45 only because they for some unknown reason do not make an all metal 45! Go with the MK..you won't be sorry.

I believe I already understand sir. I held a PM and can easily compare the difference from a PM/CM to the P/CW equates to the difference from the MK to the K
IF I found that the K9 was difficult to carry I might decide I needed the MK instead.. I did not find that to be the case and as I prefer more fingers on the grip I prefer the CW over the PM/CM and can easily surmise that I would still prefer the K over the MK. Fact is I would prefer the K9 was just a tiny bit larger...
