I like my CW45 that I just purchased. I bought in on gunbroker, so yes, I paid a little less than retail. My local gun shops typically run these for about 475 new.

I was on a little road trip today in Fredericksburg, VA and stopped into ole Gander Mtn to see if they had any deals.

None.

I refuse to ever do business with this company for the prices they want.

A USED CW45(all standard) was $599

A new CM9 was 549.

Smith & Wesson AR15 223 is 1299 (I almost wanted to confront the sales guy about it, absurd).

Remington UMC 380 ammo 100 ct box(available at Walmart for $35 a box), was 54.99 inside. WWB 100 ct(Walmart for $36.97) was $49.99 a box.

American Eagle 9mm was 17.99, routinely $11 a box at most local shops here.

I'm not sure why Gander has become such a greedy place but the prices are absolutely terrible.

If people are gunna pay that, they are gunna sell it for that. Either that or they are in no rush to move inventory. hah

I've found some of my best deals at my local Gander Mtn. It all depends on what stock they have come in and who or how it is priced. My Gander Mtn in Fredericksburg, Va has provided me with;
* a pristine, Sig P232 with three mags, (one in the package), for $315.
* An unbelievable $550 for a HK P7, complete accessories and four mags. I almost wept when I saw this one.
* another HK, this one a USP 9mm for $400. I thought, "it must be broken or something".
* A nice Beretta 84 with night sights and unusual grips for $350.
* for only $219, I found a all but perfect Browning BL22 lever action .22lr rifle.

Of course I've had to pass on other deals due to gun-fund levels, or lack thereof. I've purchased a few new guns there as well and found the sale prices appealing. I hear your complaints but I have to say I really like having G.M. to deal with. I pass on bad deals and buy good deals. You never know what will show up in the case. Patience has it's rewards.

Cabela's has had many great deals. If all of the planets line up... ammo sale with really good prices and free shipping or $20 off $99 or $150 purchase... and no tax for FL... I've gotten .45 acp FMJ under $15 a box delivered... brass-cased new ammo. I'm waiting on a deal like that now... back-ordered, but due in at the warehouse around now. I can wait for deals like that. I should have gotten two cases... not just one. That was one I was worried about coming before we got back from Christmas in Colorado.

I've bought a lot of ammo from Cabela's, but not at regular prices and having to pay for shipping.

I've stopped at their stores several times when traveling out of state, but didn't buy anything because their prices were like Gander's... and I would have had to add tax, too!

I know this tax-free stuff is going to end some day and I'll really miss the deals.

At the gun show last month, I saw a CW40 for $349 new. I also saw a private dealer trying to sell one for $399 used. I also saw the CW45 for $399 new.

I see all kinds of prices like that, but I saw a new XD(M)40 black Melonite with 4.5" barrel for $517 new. If I see it at the show weekend after this, I'm gonna grab it. I'll put Trijicon HD NS on it and if I think it "needs" it, get it Mag-na-ported, but I don't expect that will be the case. It has been over a month since I got the XD45 and there must be some reason I can buy myself one. I already "discussed" it with Wifey at supper after buying 3 cases of wine today. I tried to put the pistol purchase in perspective with spending that much on wine ~ quarterly.

I haven't found any smoking deals like those, but I've found some good ones as well.

That P7 is a crazy good deal!

I've also found some great deals at Gander, but have also seen the obnoxiously high prices as well, but you can't keep employees and the doors open on stores that size without making money either.

Gander/Basspro/Cabelas all sell way more items than guns and ammo. That is where they make their money.

I've never found any good deals at Gander and will not buy any ammo or guns from them because of the ridicules prices here at my local store in Houston. New handguns are over the MSRP most of the time, used guns are at MSRP of the new guns and really don't get me started on the ammo situation.

ur right surv, but I thijnk only the GM gun dept is the only authorized place in the store where u get a free finger swab with every gun purcvhase. PRICELESS!!!

I actualy like the rest of the store for what they carry in depth, although not cheap but it is there right in front of u to buy and not mail order etc, so I have to give the store an ovberall rating of 5 out of 10, but I normally go only to the gun area and ammo area. Never bought a gun from them, so the finger swab thing might be hearsay but I do see b ehind the counter a box of rubber gloves and a jar of KY. I am assuming they don't lube the guns with that, but again I don't know that!!!!!

I have noticed gun buyers walking out with one hell of a smile on their face and knowing their higher prices onguns, I just figured it had to be something else that put that smile on there face, but again I am just assuming..

That P7 is a crazy good deal!

What made the P7 price so unusual is that it occured before the thousands of Saxony police trades hit the market, driving the price of a P7 down. At the time I found that P7 a good price for one, in just about any condition, was $800. Mags were very hard to find and fetched $75 or higher, (if you could find them). It was easily about a $1000 value.

I suspect that on the two HKs I mentioned, the price was incorrect, perhaps the price they paid and the guns mismarked. Who knows??

I recall a story from another forum about a guy that was looking, window shopping at his LGS, when he spotted a Sig P210. It was in a old box, all dusty, not in a prominent spot. He asked "how much?" The shop owner said he was cleaning out the safe and found this one that had been in there for years... $500 takes it. I bet that new p210 owner wept too. :D

I was in the very same store Tuesday before last. I saw the high price on the .380 ammo. I was also shocked to see about forty boxes of PMC 380 for 12.97 per box. I paid two buck more per box at the gunshow at the Expo Center.

Gander was the only place with a Bodyguard 380 in the area. The price wasnt terrible and I had a $100 gift card there, so I bought it. When I asked about trade in on my P380 they said, why would anyone buy that when they can buy an LCP cheaper? They then offered me $150 for it. That has got to be the worst reasoning I have heard in a long, long, time.

Did he know about the p380 problems and maybe not want it to try to sell?

Easy enough to walk out and take your business elsewhere.

I go to gander mtn to use there indoor shooting range. Very nice. I usually walk through the gun display area. Prices are high. But one thing is for sure if you need ammo in a pinch they always have it in stock at the store.

There don't seem to be any Gander Mountains out here in western US, but I used to stop at one occasionally back when I used to live in Minnesota, and still do when I am back visiting. My impression was:

Gander always had a big supply and big variety of ammo, and were one of the few stores in Minnesota that had their handgun ammo sitting out on shelves instead of behind the counter like most stores there.
Their ammo prices were sometimes high, but they often had decent sale prices, thus I did wind up buying a lot of my ammo there.
I never bought a gun there because their prices were often much higher than elsewhere, plus sales tax on top, and their staff was often not very helpful.

I've never understood why anyone would complain about prices in a particular store, because you are not forced to buy anything there. If you don't like somebody's price, just vote with your dollars and take your business elsewhere. Simple economics will then dictate whether any given store's pricing policy is sustainable, or not.
