How accurate are you guys with cw9s? What kind of group do you get at say 5yds/10yds? Should I expect much or is just center of mass is good enough?

now if u ask me that question and then a good shooter like most of the other kahr guys here, ur gonna get two different answers. I don't own a cwp but do own a PM9 and K9 and I shoot the K9 pretty good, the PM9 not so good and I do most ofmy shootin at 7 yards even and alof of it is just sitting on a chair relaxing and shooting, certainly not the position to be in when SHTF but it beats standing alot for me anyhow. COM in a FBI "Q" type silhouette for me is my goal. I gave up a few years back trying to shoot 2" groups. Some guys here will blow ur mind with accuracy, so it is not the gun but the shooter as u well know. Some people are just naturally good shooters, and then there is jocko.

I can keep all of my shots inside of a coffee cup at seven yards rapid fire with my CM9. I can put most of my shots into one ragged hole at seven yards rapid fire with my Gold Cup. That ain't braggin' just stating facts.

I have a CW9 and can shoot two hand grip well enough to keep the shots inside an 8 inch circle at 15 to 20 feet. At more distance things start to spread out. I don't have as much control yet with my CM9. It is improving. Both are wonderful pistols.

Keep[ tham coming. I'm trying to get the big picture. Average shooter on an average day. Trying to set a goal for myself and hope i can blame it on the gun if I cant get a 2inch group LOL.

I think it's safe to say the gun will out shoot the average shooter by a large margin. You can blame the gun of course, we all do that, I think it would be considered a little white lie and momma says a little white lie never hurt nobody.
I'm fond of the phrase minute of pie plate. If my shots are all in a paper plate, what is that 8"'s give er take, I figure I'm taking care of business.
Normally I'm blessed with much smaller groups than that especially at the closer distances. I practice carry guns usually at 7 to 10 yards, with minimal practice beyond that.

Paper plate it is. maybe my goal will be a desert paper plate. Cant hurt, when I need to use it hopefully then they will still be in the dinner plate size.

Actually that's a good plan. Maybe just a little better than last time each trip and in no time you'll be printing one shot groups as small as Jocko. Some even on your own target.
Something to strive for ya know?

You could probably say I'm pretty darn average. I suck! :D
But I'm learning. Shooting my CW9 with two hands at 7 yards Ill hold about a 6 inch circle for about 90% of my shots with the rest being off a couple more inches here and there. I have fired a couple of mags off a sand bag though and the gun pretty much cut a single golf ball size hole at 7 yards. After that I decided I had no excuses from that point on. :)

Let me tell you what I did.
I got a pack of the normal sized el cheapo paper plates and a pack of the smaller desert sized plates. I do not care to stand there and aim and try to shoot for small groups. I wont be doing that for self defence...
I got my wife just bringin the gun up in front of her face lookin over the slide and "point" shootin at a more rapid pace. She is on the bigger plate at 5 yards and I am on the smaller one. I honestly think we both need more practice but honestly I think we need some GOOD training only she balked at the $250 price tag per person...
When I told the guy I want to get training from what my ideas were he said I had the right ideas. This mostly in response to my feeling that I was seriously thinking about taking the sights off my carry handgun. The only reason I wont and he would advise me not to IS the possiblity I might need to take a longer range shot that I need to aim for. I prefer to prepare for worst case and hope for best case... I am seriously thinking about finding someone who can make me a guttersnipe sight.. may well do it myself or have my son do it.. I been tryin to convince him to go to gunsmith school or join the marines and become an armorererer.

u certainly hit the nail on the head tvracinfan. IMO that is the way to train with kahrs, they are what they are a close up defense gun that will save ur life. I fele whenI wantto hit beer vans at 20 yards, I can grab my G19 tuned with great adjustable sight and hit a few at that distance, but my PM9 is my 24/7 carry peace and ur method of training is what I do all the time. I use the FBI"Q" silhouette though.

Here's the deal.
At 7 yards I "average" about a 4" spread with my CW9 and all shots are within a 6" spread out of 50 rounds.
At 15 yards (which I don't shoot very often), I'm lucky if I get 25 within 6" and the remainder are ALL OVER THE PLACE!
Now if you let me shoot my 1911 at those distances, at 7 yards the center of the target is destroyed (usually have to change out the target after 3 8-round mags) and at 15 all shots are within a 3" spread. Bigger gun, bigger bullets, longer sight radius and SA pistol.
DA with my SP101 center destroyed and 4" at 15 yards. Heavier gun and just about the same sight radius.
Some times I just su*k.

OK, OK already. I hear-by do not blame my suking on the CW9.

now ur talkin!!1 sense, which is strange for this forum.
My results vary.
1. I'm slowly aiming and concentrating on my mechanics.
2. I'm simulating an armed encounter and going for speed and solid hits.
Either circumstance will produce dramatically different results.

This is why I am fine with the standard sights on my CM9. Point and shoot and focusing on the front sight is what I am practicing at SD distances. I'll keep the sights in case I need to do something longer range.

Awesome responses. I feel i am on the right path. never shot dao and was suprised how much of a difference it makes. Sounds like i have a couple good excuses to buy more ammo and shoot.

The best excuse for buying more ammo: The sun rose in the East this morning.

The cw9 can be quite accurate if you take your time. The best I could muster up was a 5shot group @ 3/4" from 21 ft. I bettered that by an 1/8" with my K9 Elite.

shot my cw9 for the first time yesterday, impressed with it. 3yd group 2-3 inches, 7yd 5-6 inches, 15 yd 8-10 inches. all center mass. no issues with wwb & federal ammo.so much better than my keltec p11, the kahr's trigger is really nice for double action. i'll keep shooting it see if groups get better.

I didn't buy my CW9 for long range accuracy. I just appreciate it for the close range gun that it is. I bought it for deeper CCW than my other pistols. I am quite happy with its performance at around 10 yards. I can keep my hits within a standard paper plate. Close enough for me. That's all I expect from a short sight radius as compared to my other pistols.
I shot mine for the first time Saturday and we ran 57 rounds thru it. Most of mine stayed in the 9-10 area on a B27 at 7 yards...
