Well they finally corrected the posted tonnage, I mean weight of the XDs. The site states 21.5 oz. That's more like it, same as the PM45. Been lusting ,like many, for a single-stack Xd. Glad I held off purchasing the XDm 3.8. Hope the Pearce extension fits, would like to get a three finger hold.
NO, I'm not dumping the PM45. It's my favorite Kahr.

A much more desirable weight.

I just saw an ad in American Handgunner that says it is hitting store shelves now.

$504 at Buds for the all black version.
Much lower than I expected... of course, it says 'out of stock'.

The PM45 weighs 17.3 ounces + empty mag 2.0 oz = 19.3 oz. Official Kahr weight. I got 19.35, but I have the bike tire tube grip cover.
230-gr FMJ S&B = 7.4 oz for 10, or 4.44 oz for 6, for a total of 23.74 oz.
With aluminum-cased 230-gr FMJ blazers, at 3.66 for 6 rounds, the total is down to 22.96 oz.
I use only 230-gr ammo and I've consistently gotten 23.85 or a tad less for the PM45 with 5+1 loaded.
The PM9 weighs 19.647 oz with 6+1 for comparison, and the P380 13.96 oz with 6+1.

So the PM45 is lighter, but the XD-S makes my wallet heavier! Can't wait to get my hands on one. One thing about XD's is thier grip is a little square, needs some palm swells. Of course a Hogue grip sleeve will take care of that. Put one on my PM40 and it feels so much better.

Wynn,
You are correct. The battery on my scale was very low when I weigh the PM45. New battery and the weight is 23.74 oz with 5+1, 230g HST loads and the bike tube grip.

Not only so, but the CW45 weighs just about the same as the XDS, the length and height are the same (with a flat metal mag base on the CW45), it holds one more round and it is going out the door for around $350. Can you say, knowing what we know about what a nice gun the CW45 is, "NO CONTEST!"

The XDs is very close in length and height to the XD9sc.

About a year and a half ago I decided to go with a PM40. I wanted the PM45 but there were quite a few gripes about the gun back then being that it was brand new. How are Kahr .45's these days? Imparticular the PM45 and CW45.

I purchased my PM45 in 11-10. It's a "test fire" or demo and looked like it never fired a single round. DLC finish and not a mark on the stripper bar. Any way, I put 900 rnds through it in less than three months without a malfunction. Then a crack in the frame and a return to Kahr for a new frame. It's still perfect with about 3500 rnds. total.
It's the older blunt nose version.

Everything on my PM4544N has been replaced AT LEAST ONCE. Up until the new frame, I had put over 2,200 through mine and there's no telling how many Kahr put through it... but a BUNCH! I haven't kept up with "Franken-Boomer's" count since the new frame.
I need to dig out the Kahr C.S. "actions performed" just for grins, sometimes, and see what the count is for each part. I don't think there are any original parts... even the 6 magazines have all been replaced because the last big thing it was doing was EATING or destroying magazines... duplicated by Kahr... and the only thing that stopped it was a new frame. he's sitting within a few inches of my left knee as I type here, with a 7-round, extended grip mag inserted... 7+1 rounds, and a few reloads, too.
I still marvel at its size and weight for a .45. At our Christmas shoot in Colorado, some of the guys wouldn't shoot it. My wife and one of my brothers-in-law did. My wife liked shooting HIS 1911 better.

Now that number is more realistic. But it could NEVER replace my CW45...NEVER...

I'm confused, mind posting a link to this gun? I found the XD sub-compact 3 but it looks like it's been out for a while and can't be a single stack at 13 rounds.

I thinks all the fuss is about the new micro single stack 45 released at the Shot Show.
