I already have a P45 which is my primary CCW, but am thinking of buying a PM9 for the wife. What is a good price to buy one in a private sale that is new in the box?

How would one NIB come up in a private sale? I always assume a gun being sold privately that is less than a year old has issues. Exceptions, of course, I sold a perfect LC9 and a 99.9% PM9 recently. Three year old or ten your old guns don't concern me, except be real clear what your warranty maybe...usually nothing for a second owner.

PM9s have different prices new depending on sights and coloring.

I would say $500 for a PM. Personally, I would get a new CM for $375.

You get the extra mag with the PM... $30 plus shipping, so lets say $35 "value". You get steel sights, more options for sights too.

But... I think for a carry gun, I'd probably stick with the stock sights, and get the extra mag of my own choice (6rd)... not look back at the deal, or the "reduced cosmetics" of the CM... an excellent value!

If you are assuming you are only guessing because you don't really know. If you sold a good pm9 someone else can too. If the seller needs the money or just wants something different or it doesn't fit their needs. Lots of reasons to sell beside being a bad gun.

As with any transaction: if you're happy and the seller is happy, it's the right price.
What would be a bargain in New York or California would be considered thieft in Indiana or Kentucky.

I would check asite like Buds Guns and also local to see what a new at the shop would run me then go from there. IF I knew that someone had bought brand new and not shot the thing and then had issue that he needed to sell I would have no problem giving him the new at the shop price for it.

I saw a brand new PM9 with external safety at a gun show last Saturday for $650. I thought that was a pretty good deal. I have not seen a new one below $700 in my area.

Forgive the slow responses but the answer will vary all over the place. You may find a person that hates the recoil and is willing to sell theirs for $500 or another that decides a Beretta Nano is a better carry gun and will only take $700 for their PM9. Look around and take your time. You may get lucky.

The seller claims it was an impulse buy, then he realized he needed the money for other things. He said he cannot return it, so is willing to let it go at a loss.

I often use words I don't the meaning of, especially in forums. Oh, and thanks for also stating the obvious.

I recently bought a PM9 (used with 400 rnds through it) in Virginia. It came with box, two mags, and a manual, all for $550. I bought it in December 2011, but the serial number indicates January 2010 as its date of birth.

afair price, does that mean u have 3 mags with it or now only two. as the PM9 comes with a spare mag. rounds down range means nothing. these guns are built like tanks, nice thing this gun should be broken in though.

I have always been leary of buying used guns but that being said I bught my K9 used throgh the mail and that damn gun has never failed one time. I dodn't steal it in price but it was what it was and so I must retract mys tance on buying used. I think if u see a kahr being sold used, especialy in the bigger frame models and not the P380 model, that IMO many peddled them becuase they did not like the looooooong trigger and THEIR piss poor shooting of the gun. Kahrs are not for everyone. some hate that long trigger, some expect target gun accuracy out of a 18 ounce gun and some are there fore dissapointed.

My buddy about a year ago bought a used PM9 (blunt nose version) and he had never heard of kahrs even and he paid $250 for thegun and called me to come and look at it. Only thing that pissed me off was that I was not first in line to steal this gun for $250. I am very close to owning this gun as he does not shoot it well, never carrys it and I keep telling him it is a POS and he should let me own it. I am very close..

I have two mags with it, one short one (I put a Pearce extender on it) and one long one.

Mine is the "pre-bevel" model. The slide is not beveled up front.

To me, buying it used at a gun show from someone I trust was really worth it because I got to examine it really closely. With 400 rnds through it already, I knew I didn't have to worry about "break in". I have by now put about 500 rounds through it without a single malfunction of any sort.

My only very minor complaint is that I have to put the white dot of the front sight directly ON the target, NOT just BELOW THE TARGET. Once getting used to that, I get the kind of accuracy on a range at 25 yds.that I normally get with an old Colt 5" 70 Government! So, it's not really a complaint, just something that I needed to get used to.

oh my u have one of the blunt nose versions. IMO that is the best of allthe PM9 made by kahr, keep that sucker. It is smallerr than any 9mm kahrs makes today.. Personally IMO u should get extremely good and fast at 7 yards and forget about the 25 yards stuff. I wouldthink courts might frown on shooting anyone at 25 byards, let alone in a SHTF situation ur probalby not gonna do that well.

Sight picture is different for different people/ U got a damn nice gun their..

In cae u don't know it, u can buy recoils springs for this model kahr direct from wolffs for far less than kahr will sell u any. all u need is the outter springs to, not the complete assembly. order them from wolffs and change as u get the urge to. They also offer two poundage springs to. 18# factory and 20.5#. bothg are nice set up. u can also order extra magazine sprngs from wolffs for ur kahr also, and they offer a very nice drop in 5# striker spring which only makes trigger poundage less andnot the trigger travel. I have had them in my PM9 for 32K rounds and never an issue.

tHAT IS A VALID POINT.

Down here I see used PM9's going for $525-$550 fairly often. I think a price under $500 would be good, especially for a gun I do not need.
