Apparently this is no-cost insurance against loss of firearms sponsored by NRA. It seems to good to be true....is it an outside insurance vendor sponsored by NRA or ??? Is it truly no strings attached?

There are always strings, looking forward to the comments from those who know exactly what they are as I haven't looked into it very closely yet.

I haven't looked at the details for many many years but I did receive compensation for a stolen revolver way way back, I'm not sure if Armscare was the carrier at that time or not.
It's not a huge amount that comes with your NRA membership but you can of course sign up (and pay) for as much as you need.
It may be more now than it was then too. I need to look again. One of the things I keep meaning to check is what my homeowners insurance will cover. Keep putting it off. I know the free isn't nearly enough.

It's legit. I got a check from them after my burglary in February. My HO policy paid less than half of the loss but ArmsCare took up some of the slack.

It is true and one of the many benifits of being a NRA member....I lost a pistol last year to a burglary and went to my "Good Hands" people to find out what my home owners coverage was on guns...
They settled with me for my stolen 1911 for less than a fair price from what I had in the gun and I also found out the policy has a $1500.00 limit on firearms per household unless you bought a separate rider for guns but you had to have each one appraised and documented by a FFL dealer before they would issue it and the policy was somewhat expensive for what it offered...
Since i'm a NRA member I decided to forgo the added expense....One note to the pistol theft...The insurance isn't the problem, it's the Police...I'm still fighting to get my recovered 1911 back from the Police after more than a year...They tend to have a finders keepers, losers weepers attitude when it comes to guns...
It's much easier to buy a good alarm and a safe to prevent a theft in the first place than to deal with the aftermath with insurance and Police gun grabbers...
