Only a heavy PITA, and highly illegal here. Otherwise absolutely. Give them something to think about.

I believe that that hat would be illegal in many other states besides Texas. Actually I think it's a good concept but.......

You know for less money you can buy a baseball style "impact" type safety cap that is legal for less money at any good safety supply store.

I can only imagine myself, in a moment of happiness, slapping that cap on my head with emphasis.
Lights out.

I'm sure some bozos will try to wear those through airports and then those will be added to the "watch list" of stuff like fake cell phones, pens, and such.

Some of the comments are funny.

When my mother was in grade school she carried a nylon stocking with three golf balls in the toe for self-defense. Tactical ballistic nylon in 1932. You've come a long way, baby.

Now wait a dadburn'd second or three.

Lets just say you got some fellow (or lady) who's jus'about completely bald, and maybe jus'maybe they got themselves a glandular problem to boot, which results in them havin' an extremely oily scalp.

Could be they NEED that weight to keep the fool thing on their head in even the slightest of breezes.

=== which is why a McDuffie flashlight works so well === totally ordinary until you use it, like they did on Arthur McDuffie. Its mis-reported as the 5-D cell MagLight, but in fact, it was the 6-C cell flashlight, preferred for its smaller, easier to grasp grip and being able to be fit with 1-1/2 inch heat shrink tubing to further that grip.
