I just ordered up a CW45, and I am in the throws of reading everything possible. I'm looking forward to picking the new toy up on Wednesday next week <fingers crossed>.

I look forward to more reading and participating on this site!

Thanks,
Wally

ugh! It was supposed to be here today... then tracking indicated a delay somewhere and it's rescheduled for tomorrow! What a tease, lol.

Sorry - planned on handing out cigars today.

I would think that the .45 and .40 are Blue, and the .380 and 9mm Pink!

Pink Cubanos all around...

I picked it up an hour ago - yeah! Shop owner asked me why I wanted a Kahr (disapprovingly). I like the feel, looks, and price! He seemed less than pleased with their rep. and claims to have sent all 3 back he's sold for repairs from Kahr.

I am diving in and out of the Tech forum on how to prep your new kahr. I am taking a rest from racking it it a few hundred times, and I have already found the mag spring installed backwards. My plan is to strip her, polish every mating surface, polish and throat the barrel, clean the bee-Jesus out of her, polish the mag lips, and clean the mag. Then I'll double check any other recommendations that I might have missed... and feed her a few hundred rounds at the range of 230gr FMJ.

I hope that through proper inspection, correction, polishing, and ammo diet that this will be 100% reliable!

ok, did some bonding with the new girl... A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE MEMBERS OF THIS SITE!!! I have performed the following:

Polished feedramp to a mirror
Reoriented the mag spring (installed backwards @ Kahr)
Found a small burr on the extractor that I filed off and polished smooth
Filed front slide notch a little
Dressed the guide rod a little and cleaned up the beveled edge
Beveled and polished slide to round contact
Filed mag release where it was hitting round
Mod'd mag follower for dropped mag issue
Polished inside mag feedlips to a mirror
Filed off ridge across slide stop post and polished
CLEANED!

I have avoided the temptation to just load up and go shooting when I picked it up, lol. I have a couple more things that I want to do, and then RANGE TIME.

I am THRILLED!!!! I ran out to Ft. Dix in the cold and damp and put 200 flawless rounds of Winchester White Box FMJ through her. The recoil to re-acquisition is excellent - it doesn't kick nearly as strongly as I thought it would and it is very manageable.

Three things stand out:

1. She is more accurate at distance then I thought! I spotted a bottle on the ground at about 30yrds and nailed it on the first shot after a grand total of firing only 6 rds through the gun.

2. The recoil and comfort to shoot many rounds is impressive. I did 200rds in around a half hour, and my hands are just fine. Mind you that this was also in 36* weather with on and off rain/snow/sleet.

3. The gap between the mag and magwell bit my ring fingertip as I slammed a new magazine home. I have a throbbing blood blister right now.

4. I know I said three, but this one is a bonus: the innertube grip "puppy" worked very well! I was getting a sore hand from racking the slide manually at home ala the break in recommendations on this site, and my hand was marked up from the sharp stippling. I think that without the innertube I might have gotten raw or sore at the range today. Excellent mod indeed!!! I spent $8. on a new tube and have enough left for about 100 more, lol.

So far so good! I'm looking forward to more of the same!!!

Follow up: After those 200 rounds of WWB, I went back today and put a couple hundred more down her; all reloads this time. Not one hiccup!

While there, I shot a Sig 250 in 40 S/W... doesn't hold a candle to the Kahr!!!

I'm still in the Honeymoon phase on this one :)

A couple more trips to the range since then, and ZERO failures of any kind!!! Accurate as hell and a joy to shoot. She's no target pistol, but does really well on the range! I did try some 180gr Critical Defense rounds through her and found she's kicks a fair bit more - must be some hotter loads. Still able to take care of bidness though! Bro-in-law was very impressed shooting it - and went there thinking he'd hate it. HA!

I just placed an order for a CW45 from my local gun shop today. They should have it tomorrow. I plan on doing a through cleaning and inspection prior to taking it to the range.
This will be my first Kahr. I currently own a Metroarms American Classic II 1911, a Ruger LC9, a Ruger LCP, a AR15 and a Mossberg 12ga shotgun.
It's always exciting to get a new gun. If all goes well, I plan on using this one as my primary Concealed Carry weapon.

I have that same Metro Arms American Classic in a stainless Commander length. Nice pistol that one. I did have to tune the ejector a bit and put in my signature heavy springs (kept getting a love tap right between the eyes), and it now wears a pair of Bawanna made custom grips (I think I started something with the inlay). Welcome to the asylum all, you're gonna love those 45's. I have an older P45 and my wife carries a CW45.

The Metroarms 1911 shoots like a dream. I was surprised that it didn't kick more. I will be very happy if the CW45 shhots anything close. The trigger on the Kahr is long, but smooth as butter. Just the way a Concealed Carry piece should be. WIll post after I take it to the range. I have recieved my 7 rd flat bottomed magazine, and just have to fit it per the instructions on another thread.
