Hey everyone I'm a new member here and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Marcus and I'm 23 and a semi-new firearm enthusiast. I've been interested in the kahr cm9 ever since it's release. I liked the pm9 but it was way out of my price range. Well last saturday I finally got one. I traded my saiga 12 shotgun for the cm9 and $200. I thought it was a good trade. I get a pistol I can use and some cash for other stuff. The pistol was used but not much haha. It also came with an extra 6 round magazine. Tonight I got to shoot it for the first time. All I can say is wow! The pistol ran perfectly through the 150 rounds that were shot. 20 of which were federal hydra shocks. The recoil was very manageable for a pistol of it's size. Much easier on the hands than my old keltec pf9. Also was 100% more reliable than the keltec. I sold the keltec a few months ago. If I had known how great this kahr pistol was going to be then I would have never wasted my time with the pf9 from keltec. It's a very accurate too. Punching one big hole in whatever target was shot at. Only thing was it seemed to shoot a little high. I don't know if it's the pistol or if I'm just not used to the sights yet. The trigger took a few rounds to get used to but I liked it. I'm glad I got the cm9 it is now my semi-auto carry option. I grabbed a pocket holster for it while at the range so I'll be carrying it as soon as I get some more defensive ammo :)

Welcome to the forum and the CM9 Owners Club! :) Absolutely great little carry gun, isn't it? And it will get smoother and smoother as you put more rounds through it.
This is a great forum with lots of friendly people, gun knowledge, humor and good advice. Make yourself at home!
Congrats! Glad you like it. Enjoy.

Thanks guys! I'm loving the little cm9. It's pretty much a perfect little carry gun. Pocket carry or any way you want to carry. It's much smaller than my lcr 357(awesome pistol) that I currently carry.

Do yall have any recommendations for a self defense hollow point round? There are so many I'm having a tough time deciding which one to carry

Great gun, congrats and welcome!
My PM9 really likes the Winchester Bonded PDX1, feeds perfectly.

get a different brand from more than likely every owner. They are all great defense rounds, they will all do the job when needed, They are all expensive, find what works perfect in ur kahr, that is #1 for sure. If u can find it locally u save postage and messing around in ordering it. Many here do shoot the 124 grain gold dots. This is probalby the most popular defense round out there, but that doesn't mean it is the best either, just popular. again #1 is IT MUST WORK PERFECT. 99.995% will never fire it in harms way anyhow, so find what is reasonable and good for u and ur gun and just stick with it. There is alot of add hype put on some of these defense rounds to and for me IMO it is all add hype. Some of the ol tried and proven defense rounds have been around here for years, that to me tells alot about a good round to and its acceptance by the shooters..

Does anyone think 9mm pmc 115gr fmj or 40cal 165gr fmj is ok for self defense because I can't get anyone to stand in front of either when I shoot?

NO. Sure, they will put holes in a BG, but why settle for anything less than the best when defending your life?

Today was my first full day of pocket carry with my cm9. I like it! Alot haha. Now I can rotate this and my lcr for carry. Kahr definately has a winner with this pistol.

I have tested both of those rounds on some horse heads and quite frankly I don't think they noticed any difference:blah:

Sent from my LS670 using TapatalkI like, and have fired, these:
1. Speer Gold Dot 115 gr or 124 gr
2. Federal HST 124 gr
3. Winchester PDX1
No need for +P in a short barrel.

Thanks guys. Ive got hornady critical defense in it right now. Might keep it and might find something else I don't know. But I don't really see a problem with the new hornady stuff.
