CM9 Range Report

Not my first Kahr so I did the prep for the first trip with a new Kahr to the range. I have the original 6 round mag and purchased two 7 round extended mags. Fired about a 100 rounds and really love the little 9. Fired mostly WWB FMJ and a couple of mags of SGD JHP. Very accurate at defensive range and only fired it at this distance today. Only issue was about a half dozen nose dive rounds in the second to third position on the 7 round extended mags. No problems on the 6 round mag. Thought about it a minute and on the last two mags fired with the 7 rounders I very consciously kept my pinky finger and support hand from touching the extended portion of the mag. No issues but not convinced that was the issue or just the higher round count was helping performance. Thoughts?

Great pistola no FTE's, very accurate, great trigger, thinking about switching the extended mags for flush ones.

Seems like quite a few people have trouble with nose dives in the 7 round mags. I got 2 more 6 round mags for my CM9.

There are some threads here that talk about having success with some simple mods to your mags. In the Proper prep of a new kahr (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1521) sticky, it tells you how to check if the follower is dragging on the mag catch and how to sand the right front corner of the follower a little to fix that. Also, there are threads about recontouring the top of the follower that several people have had success with: Chambering the first round, a slingshot modification (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=6943).

Wow thanks for the PLETHORA of suggestions and feedback! I'm underwhelmed.

Question again has anyone experienced more nosedived rounds in the 7 round extended mags versus the 6 round mags. Typically only happened on the 2-3 round of the mag. None on the 6 round mag. I previously have had PM9's, CW9, and CW40's and never experienced any of these mag issues.

Hopefully I can wake up the Kahr experts for some feedback!

u bought a ultra compact 9mm,peddle that extendfed mag and exchangeit for anothe rflush one. If u want a 7 round magazie, then buy the cw9. For some reasons extended magsin the cm or PM kahrs are iffy, some feel it is the magazine itself, somefeel is the additional torgue one puts on that extended magazine that causes it. either way, why trust it. nothing wrong with the cm9 or PM9 when used with the flush fit mags. Train the way ur ultimately going to carry and if that 7 round magazine is a must, then peddle the cm9 a get a cw9..

Please don't use that word Plethora, it sounds so sexual to some:D
