View Full Version : Range Report-Bad First Experience With New CM9
Finally got a chance to shoot my new CM9 I got few weeks back. Brought original 6rd magazine & 2 7rd mags with pinkie ext. Researched & followed all the guidelines of cleaning, lubricating, & racking the slide 500+ times. Shot total of 200 rounds & every magazine had stops due to FTF, FTE, stovepipes, etc. You get the picture. I am completely frustrated that this gun performed so poorly. I was using WWB 115gr from wally world & this same ammo had no problems in my Glock 17 which I also shot. I understand that it needs a "break in period", but this is ridiculous. I don't know if it's worth it to try another range session or to just cut it loose. I love the size & weight of the gun & this was going to be something to carry when I go running late at night. I expected some hiccups initially, but this was very disappointing.

#1. let another shooter shoot thegunto eliminate any possability of shooter error,if that fais give kahr a call and ask them to pick up the gun on their dime. The cm9 is just one heh of a great gun, ur issues so so rare,ur wwb ammo is good stuff, it is not ammo related. makie sure the outter recoil spring is on correctly, with open end towards the frront of th slide.
U have done all u can do IMO, but u need to make sure it is not shooter related first then give kahr a call. Ur G17 is twice the size of your cm9 there is a total differencein feel and design. both should work, both will work. it is not the end of the world thatu have issues, that is what a warranty is also for to. If u cut it loose then IMO ur the looser in this as the next owner who buys it might just have a good gun or he might at least givekahrthat onetime tomake it right to. Thius stuff happens 26.2, certainly u don'think glocks never give issues do u???U dreamin. My G19 went back one time for a badslide lock lever, best gun I ever had for shooting accuracy.I don't hold what happened against ALLGLOCKS either. It just happens. Indiana State Police sent all 1200 of their Glock 22 back for G17 and now recently have sent abunch of them back again to glock for issues. Give kahr a callafteru eliminate my suggetion as maybe an issue, let them go overit for you, their turn around time is extremely fast.

Mine does not like WWB ammo....Since i have changed to S&B, Federal, Remington, no issues what so ever.....just back back from the range today with it, about 200 rounds flawlessly....Hope yours gets to running right, its a awesome little pistol.

Not a Glock fanboy, just happened to be shooting it along with the Kahr & a also new FNP 45 which was finicky with 185gr ammo (230gr it was butter). I agree that every manufacturer has issues, it's how they deal with their customers that determines if they remain a legitimate player in the gun market. I'm gonna give the Kahr a chance. Just got done doing a thorough cleaning & lube again. Even with the 200rds shot today, pulling slide back is still alot of effort (double checked that recoil spring is in proper orientation-open end toward front). I"ll give Kahr a call on Monday & hopefully I can send it back to them to solve any issues with the gun.

the slide is never going to get as easy as any glock, Kahrs are just harder to rack period. not a liability, just something that everyone who owns a kiahr works it out. I do think I would reshoot the gun and take a friend along to shoot also, and then give kah the call if needed. I am a glock fa, sold um for years, never had any issues with them either, my issue was a minor one, just not a gun I can carry 24/7 like my kahr. My 2 kahrs PM9 and K9 are totally reliable. If u can't get it right, let kahr have it back to get it right, have them pick it up on their dime though and I would documennt everything in print for if u send it back it will give the kahr tecs a starting point, state all ammo used and issue related to it..
u never stated whether theseissue u werehaving was at any particul place in the magazine, i. e. like maybe at round #2 or #3 or just anywhgere in the magazine. Did u review the kahr tech secion under proper prepping of ur kahr, there aresome tips there in how to check to see if my cance the magazine catch is grabbing on the magazine follower at around round 2 & 3. this is correctable but it will also cause some of ur issue to. I think I would also pull the bottom plate off of each magazine to see if the mag spring is in correctly. It has happened before that they were put in backwards and this will cause issues for sure. Just the process of elimination sometimes gets to the issue, sometimes correctable in home, sometimes just has to go back to kahr..

I have had zero nosedives since knocking the back of the magazine to seat the rounds to the back before inserting in the gun. Try some more ammo and this and see if you get better results.
First off, I gotta say I understand your frustration. I wouldn't give up quite yet, tho. Yesterday I thoroughly cleaned my pistol, including blasting out the firing pin channel with brake cleaner and lubricated in accordance with the lube diagram here on the forum. The second 100 rounds went MUCH better! Hopefully you end up with a happy ending...
