One of my local gun shops has a "new" cm9 for 60 bucks cheaper than the other lgs. My only concern is the cheaper one seems to slide a lot easier then the more expensive one. This is the same shop that told my gf the tcp they were asking 250 for was brand new, yet he agreed to let her shoot it. I feel like this might be the same thing they have done with the "new" cm9. How can I tell if the gun is REALLY brand new?

If it looks new with no scuff marks anywhere and has all the original instructions it is probably new as stated. I doubt they would give you false info. If it has been test fired at their store or range and you can buy for $60 less than competition, it sounds like a good buy to me (unless they have a range with rental guns and may have rented this one out). I say if you buy it, your normal breakin will be shorter with less ammo being needed. What is the asking price they gave you?

They do rent out guns n the fact that he let us rent a "brand new" gun our first time there makes me think he has rented the cm9 out. They are asking 430 for it.

It could have quite a few rounds fired at their range. You may want to pass this one up and shop around. CM9 can be bought online for $399 plus transfer fee (about $20) from your FFL dealer. No sales tax online either. You can make an offer on this gun between $375 to max $399 if its been a range rental. Check www.Budsgunshop.com (http://www.Budsgunshop.com) or www.Cheaperthandirt.com (http://www.Cheaperthandirt.com) for online prices.

Is it one of those "factory fired" Kahrs with the "U" stamped in the frame?

Yep, Cheaper Than Dirt is where I ordered my CM9 from in November. :D

I just saw one at the LGS for almost $600:eek:. I paid $389 at another LGS so I think this store either did not buy them right, or they're screwing the unsuspecting public.

NEVER ASSUME nothing, know ur dealer or if in doubt pass on it. I guess in a technical way a new gun is a gun that has never been titled, as all kahrs are test fired at the factory.

I have bought a few new cars in my life that I have been able to take out and test drive, so is it not new the the next person who comes in and buys it off the lot??? Trust but verify...:blah:

Ask the store manager if the gun has been demoed. New doesn't necessarily mean unfired. New to them might mean that you will be the first registered owner of the gun. The gun was test fired by Kahr.

I say both local dealers you are referring to are hosing people. I recommend you find a local dealer that will do the transfer for $25 or less and buy it from Cheaper than Dirt.

Oft Times, if you do an FFL search in your area, you can find people who don't have a gun store but do it for a little added income. They are usualy more likely to do the transfers for less money. I think some GSs charge a lot because they resent you buying online and not from them at their hose-ya prices. Mine owns a Radio Shack and a jewelry store under the same roof, and he charges $20 for transfers. He will also send guns for me for $10 plus the cost of shipping by U.S.P.S. (~$17).

My slide is still stiff as hell after 600 rounds. I got mine for 445 after tax and bg check. I knew mine was new because I ordered it through the gun shop. The other competing shops were selling the CM9 for 500 before tax and everything. One had it for 565 at the gun show. I told the owner he was crazy for listing them for that price.
