I load berrys 115 gr 9mm and use 231 and longshot powder. They can be loaded to jacketed bullet levels. These bullets shoot very well with no problems with loading or ejecting. What are you loading, caliber and weight?

Right now I'm reloading 124 gr. RN 9X19 MM, 158gr. RN .38 spcl. and 185 gr. SWC .45ACP. I've been using cast weight date and reducing the max load by 10%. I've reloaded thousands of cast lead bullets, but this is my first time using the plated bullets. Just thought that I'd give them a try.

I have NO experience loading Berry's in 9mm, but Lots of experience loading them in 45 ACP.

Berry's says. . .
Plated bullets occupy a position between cast bullets and jacketed bullets. They are soft lead, but have a hard outer shell on them. When loading plated bullets we have found best results using low- to mid-range jacketed data in the load manual. You must use data for a bullet that has the same weight and profile as the one you are loading. Do not exceed mid-range loads. Do not use magnum loads.

Velocities depend on the caliber, but as a rule of thumb, we recommend you don't shoot our plated bullets over 1200 feet-per-second. Our 44's actually shoot best around 1150 fps. 45's are generally good at 850-900 fps. Our bullets are not recommended for magnum velocities.

I'm loading Berrys 45ACP 185 RNHB and 9mm 124 RNHB-TP. I run the 45 on the hot end of the scale. Powder-puff loads make me toooo comfortable with the PM45.

I load the 9mm about 1100 fps. The 124 RNHB-Thick Plate can be pushed to 1400 fps.

I've had very good results with Berrys Plated.

Thanks for the information. I think I'll be ok with the starting loads that I put together. I appreciate the help and will let you know how well the loads worked.

Berry's plated bullets are the berries. Very accurate and with out the mess of cast lubed bullets. Had to back off a bit on the crimping die for the 38's. Otherwise no problems.

They not only shoot good but they are also very easy to reload. I only shoot 9mm and they are perfectly uniform in size and the plating is as smooth as butter. I feel even feel safe using these for self defense, however I have some Barnes hollow point solid copper 115 gr for self defense normally. :D

Try the 124g, HBRN-TP. The hollow base will result in slightly less pressure but the bullet is longer and has more bearing surface. I load those with 4.3 g. of Tiitegroup, COL=1.150.

About the crimp; load a bullet sans powder and pull it apart and check the depth of crimp. Don't crimp as to penetrate the plating.

I've cut these bullets in half to check the thickness of the plating. Not as thick as an FMJ but more than I thought it would be.

I'm heading out this morning to try the 9mm with WST powder. Fingers crossed.

I have completely switched to using Berry's for my pistol ammunition. I haven't (yet) shot any through my Kahrs but the Berry's bullets work OUTSTANDING in my Glocks.
