I currently own a CM9 that I picked up at a gun show last month and I love the heck out of it , but I am wanting to get another to start building a collection. I am stuck between a Glock 19 and a Springfield XDM compact 9mm, does anyone own either and what are your thoughts on each? I have another gun show next weekend and would like to pick one up.

IMO, a new CW45 for $350 or less is the best bargain on a high quality gun today.

You have a small semi. Why not try a small revolver. J-frame Smith and Wesson, or something larger, Maybe a 4" barrel 686 or something like that. I'm not a Glock fan, but my brother has a compact 9mm Springfield XDM and likes it very well. I don't like either for concealed carry as the handles are too wide. You might check out a Smith and Wesson M&P series as well. I have one with a double stack mag that doesn't seen very wide at all when compared to a lot of other double stack 9's. Plus I like the interchangeable back straps to fit small, medium, or large hands. Makes it very easy to find a comfortable grip on the gun. Ah, so many guns out there. If you have a Gander Mtn. close, or a large Gun Shop that carries a large variety of pistols, I'd go have a look and see what feels good in your hand and has sights you like. Many folks like the Glocks, and they seem to be very reliable. I just never got into them.

Definitely check out the S&W M&P line. They feel good in the hand and look good too. My son has 2 XD's and they are great guns but I like the feel of the Smith better.
So many guns, so little time. Don't waste a minute of it.

I want a handgun that will outshoot a good tuned 1911. Any suggestions?

I have the 9mm XDM Compact and LOVE that gun... it was my first handgun and the one I'll never get rid of, in fact I like it so much I'm seriously considering the XDS when it comes out, even though I don't need it. :)
For me, it feels great and the point of aim is better in my hands than a Glock - plus I like the grip safety and not having to pull the trigger to field strip it.

Im looking at both of those options as well. Went to a LGS and the XDM9c just felt right in my hands, it was heavier then the glock but I feel that would help with recoil also has a shorter grip less to print. The glock is a great gun it is just to large of a grip for me even the Gen 4. I haven't bought one because still would lick to see/feel the M&P and the storm 4 but so far the XDM is always on my mind. You need to see what feels and points right for you. They are all great guns if you want a double stack.

It can't be a 1911? What do you want it to look like?
If your not into the hammer back carry the Para LDA is a good option. The hammers down all the time but the pull after a long super easy take up is like a 1911. They shoot real good too.

This is what I would do. These pistols are Sooooo Nice that if I had to have one pistol one of the 75 series would be it.

Of the different brands of pistol I've owned: Sig, Beretta, S&W, Ruger, Kahr, Glock, I always find myself going back to Glock. Glock's embody the term simplicity, and they're ruggedness and reliability is second to none. My Glock 19 is one handgun I wouldn't ever get rid of. Before picking up my CM9, I was seriously contemplating picking up another Glock 26, as I had sold both of my Glock 26's a few years ago to fund other projects. I was looking to pocket carry though, and the small and slim form factor of the CM9 was just too tempting to pass up. I like many different brands of handgun, but when it comes to a carry weapon, my first choice would be a Glock. I'm hoping my CM9 impresses me enough to keep it my EDC for a while though. That is until Glock releases their own single stack subcompact/micro lol.
