View Full Version : New member from SE Georgia
Hello to all. I'm looking forward to a lot of good info from all the knowledgeable people here. I'm new to Kahr pistols. I have always been a Glock owner, love 1911's (don't own any yet) and I have a thing for AK's.
I just placed an order for a CM9 from Buds gun shop. I got a great deal, 370 delivered using the police shop as a retired Navy man.
I really enjoy my Glocks, but carrying my 21 & 19 was getting uncomfortable to carry in the hot Georgia summer. I read about the CM9 in a magazine comparison and they really liked it. Especially the trigger pull. So after fondling one in Gander Mtn, I agreed. Gander wants over 500 for one of them. I don't know how they stay in business at that price.
So now I'm looking for a good pocket holster and an iwb or owb holster.
Any recommendations? Yes I am going to search for them also.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. I'm still learning too. I just got my CM9 through the break-in period. You're going to love the little pistol. And this is the right place to learn about it.

Hi and Welcome.
The CM9 is a fine choice for a weapon.
I personally like DeSantis Nemesis and Super Fly pocket holsters.
Galco SB1 belt and Speer GDHP 124 +P 9mm ammo.
Thanks for all the great input. Correct me if I am wrong, the PM9 and CM9 are the same except for a different barrel and the the slide is machined differently? Other than that they are the same physical size, therefore the holsters are the same?
I tried to take it apart to inspect/clean/lube, it seemed like you need three hands to do it. So I referenced a friend who is Kahr knowledgeable and it's all technique. Shooting tomorrow to break in.

Yup.

I only have 2 hands, so I use a chopstick. Put it between my teeth with pointy end out, partially open the slide and insert it in the breach face just part of the way. You can easily adjust it until the marks line up.

yup and all internal parts are the same, less cosmetic stuff, if u can buy the cm9. It is as good as the PM9 and I own a PM9. This is a gun u can shoot until the cows come home to. rounds only make the gun smoother. u willnotice trhe differece yourself after 200+ rounds..
while ur waiting, visit the kiahr tech section and read on two good stickys
#1 kahr lube chart
#2 propper prepping of ur kahr
that is one heh of a great price. If Imight add, buy a flush fit factory magazine, stay the hell away from the extened round magazine. they can give u more issues than a dog with a 1000 fleas..

Welcome DNF to the best gun forum anywhere, lots of real nice knowledgeable folks here and we welcome Glock owners or any other type firearm shooters here without pregidous....Read your manual cover to cover and check out the stickys...Like Jfootin said go to a chinese restaurant and enjoy your favorite dish and grab a handful of chopsticks on the way out...They are the perfect size and material to stick between the slide and breach chamber to hold the slide open to the witness marks...Being tapered you can adjust up or down to get the slide in the exact spot and marks lined up then you can use two hands to remove the slide lock lever...
At first until the pistol breaks in it is not unusual to need a plastic mallet to tap that little bugger out but in time you will be able to use your thumb to get it to come out...
Kahr pistols are very well made but super tight when new and it may take at least 200 rounds as the manual says to break in and start to behave properly and if so don't get upset but keep shooting but many have reported perfection right out of the box...
You will come to enjoy the CM9's size and excellent trigger and it will soon be your favorite pistol...If you have any questions at all just post away and somebody will be happy to help you out....Enjoy that new Kahr smell...:p
