I recognize that felt recoil is an individual thing but I am looking for opinions/advice related to the pm45. I am age 70 and have several handguns. I carry an MK40 and do shoot it regularly but not more than 25 rounds at a time. I have good grip strength and can handle the gun fairly well. I also shoot an EMP 40 with no problems. Question - How is the recoil on the pm45? I have the pm9 and the p380 as well but am thinking about possibly carrying the pm45 versus the MK40. Maybe my thinking is flawed regarding this issue but I do enjoy shooting the Springfield ultra compact 45 I also have. Just looking for a little friendly practical advice to my question. Thanks in advance.

Get the PM45. I have the K40 and the PM45 is much more pleasant to shoot. As you say recoil is subjective and the 40 isn't so much recoil as it is muzzle flip which I guess could be considered recoil as well.

I don't think you'll have any issues. I really don't. Best bet would be to try one but sometimes that's hard to do.

Where abouts are you? Maybe we have someone close by that could play show and tell.

Oh I see south of Atlanta. That's O'Dellville. He has one. Might not be too close though. Narrow the coordinates some and we'll hook ya up.

The reason a .45 has less felt recoil than a .40 cal is velosity and pressure. A .40 cal shoots the bullets at 1200 to 1400 fps with pressure in the 40,000 psi area. A .45 acp shoots the bullets at 800 to 900 fps with pressures of only around the 20,000 psi levels. You will have better control with the .45. I am older than you and can handle a 45 as well as a 9mm. Go for it!

Everyone I've talked to, who has or has shot the PM40, says the PM45 is much nicer to shoot. I'm not a 40 fan, but the 45 suits me fine... so I got the PM45, now two of 'em, and they're both very managable

I control my PM45 much better than my PM9. The PM45 is a blast to shoot!

Thanks for all the positive responses. I neglected to say that I still work out in the gym three days a week, shoot three times a month, and stay highly active working in the yard, playing golf, and trying to stay out of trouble. I think you have convinced me that the next purchase on the horizon will be the pm45. Thanks again and stay safe.
