in march 2012 guns & ammo sweeney advises buying mk9 for range & pm9 for carry. says its perfect combo. course he gets his guns for free. but still its a good idea & kahr gets some pretty good free advertising.
i notice he does not show any extended mags in picture.:)

He makes a good point, that the weight of the MK9 will make training with one more pleasant than with a PM or CM9. I don't really have a problem shooting a CM9 as much as I want, but I have often considered getting an MK40 to shoot more than my PM40, which I don't shoot very often. If I didn't have a CM9 to shoot, I would definitely consider an MK40, the point being that the triggers are identical so practicing with the heavier gun is good training for actually using the CM/PM in a defensive situation. I personally believe in shooting what I carry anyway, so I don't carry the PM40 often.

I dont think its such a good point. You gotta definitely shoot that pistol you're gonna carry and defend yourself with. Its almost like sayin' shoot a remington 742 in .223 at the range, but carry your AR15....

They shoot the same, not really an issue once your confident with the gun(s) you carry. I don't find the PM9 uncomfortable in the least at the range though.
