I cannot believe that this made the news. I do not think that her rant was that bad. She didnt isolate out one individual or use profanity. She was upset yes and maybe a little unprofessional but I think that the complaints against her border on overprotection of the kids(cheerleaders). Kids need to know that people they have supervising them will not always have a touchy feelly approach with them. That when they do things not as instructed, people in charge get upset. I realize that there are two sides to a story though but the taped rant was not that bad IMHO. I have an idea.....hey cheerleaders, do better and stop running to daddy for protection.

True, it wasn't picking on one kid or threatening physical harm. But, I can't see an adult trying to motivate highschool girls in this manner. My experience has been that this method usually turns them off and they disregard whatever you say.
Motivation does not come by threats and intimidation.

A coach has to motivate the team. Sometimes it requires some harsh words. This was mild if you ask me. We are getting to politically correct as a Nation. Telling like it is can get anyone into trouble. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the fire. These girls were pansies. If they can't take criticisim, they need to quit the team. The coach was OK in her comments.:19:

This what the cheerleaders and most people think all interactions should be like.

FYI a heifer is a young cow that has yet to have it's first calf. Seems like an apt description of a cheerleader to me.

Yeah, I've been thru Basic Training and had my Sgt. in my face a few times. Yeah, I've done it to a few lower ranking airmen myself.

BUT, the Military is a little bit different than highschool cheerleading. Yelling and screaming does not build character, or motivate. It scares people. And in my experience, scared people usually do the WRONG thing under stress. If your teaching methods don't get the message across, maybe you need to change or maybe you need to replace your squad.
NY Giant coach Tom Coughlin made that change a few years ago. After having NO success using harsh command & control, he lightned up and has since won two Super Bowls.
Hmmm, he got tough, macho, arrogant football players to listen to him while staying calm and persuasive. Interesting.

The [P] "Wussification Of America" at its finest. It's too bad that she didn't kick the problem cheerleader[s] off the squad before she got fired

I better stop my comments right there, because I'm not the most polically correct guy around and I may get carried away with my language.

I can't believe a reaction such as that to such an appropriate action by a "coach".... they want to call cheerleading a "sport", they'd best suck it up and learn to deal with coaching type discipline. Hard to imagine this kind of non-incident getting turned into an "issue" in Texas.... oh, wait... it was in Houston:rolleyes:
