Ok, I can't find the Kahr picture thread where all this started. Somebody fess up, what did you do with it.

At any rate although I got a heck of a bad cold/flu thing going on I couldn't let my initial but not 100% PM45 stippling job alone so I just went out and approached it for a second attempt.
I took a flat type wood burner blade and basically flattened the front and back strap so I had a uniform surface to start with. Then just carried on with the stippling in those areas. I was so pleased that I went with a wrap around stippling pattern and unplugged and cooled down before I started looking for other victims. Some time ya gotta know when to fold em ya know......

Pictures of course. Idea's, recommendations or gentle criticism welcome.

Nice work Bawanna. You have a steady hand.
I've been checking out some of the videos on utube. There's lots of guys doing stippling and some of them are good instructors. I took the advice of one of them and just tried it on a cheap TDI knife kydex handle. That was an eye opener. I'm glad I didn't try this first on my pistol grips. My attempt was pretty lousey and I saved myself money and ridicule by doing the knife first.
I can now fully appreciate the fine work you've just done.

I must have somehow created this thread when I was trying to move my other post around. Oh well I'll try something different next time.

Thanks for the kind words just the same LaP. I'm happy with the results, no more innertube for me. Maybe I'll sell it on ebay.

A nice custom touch. When would you like me to send you mine? :) Seriously, how does it feel in your hand when you shoot it?

Its all evnash's fault, he thunk it up. I'm kind of glad he did though.

It feels great in the hand, excellent grip but no bit. I do notice that my pant leg will hang on it just a bit now and then so I may have to lightly sand off the points a bit. I'm leaving it for now. I like the look so much better it may get a little more time on the belt on the weekends.

Shame we have to keep pretty things and holsters hidden huh?

Muggsy, sadly the frame is the serialized part on a Kahr so while I'd be happy to do it we'd have to send thru FFL's or bend the rules really bad.

BUT if I can do it anyone can do it. It's not hard as evnash said and didn't take more than half an hour and a wood burner tool.

Fixed your title for you. ;) Nice stippling job! I have thought about doing some mods like that on a Glock, but am afraid I will mess it up. Me and tools are not always a good combination.. :(

You can do it boss. I may take the truck bed liner off my Glock that I did the reduction on and go at it with the weed burner, I mean wood burner.

Find an old mag base or something to just play with and you'll see how easy it is. Don't get hung up on the individual little pokes, they don't look like much when you first start out, just think of the big picture.
If it doesn't end up course enough you can go at it again and deepen. You can also add more spots on the high spots and actually make it less course too.

It's pretty forgiving.

I'm happy with my CM9 just the way it came from the factory, but if I ever decide to customize my EDC, I know who to call. You da man.

Beautiful work, Bawanna. I am so envious and incredulous of people who have the tools and skills to produce wonderful finished products like this. I learned the hard way (and I have a trail of broken appliances in my wake as proof) to leave stuff like this to the experts.

I'm just a rookie, evnash taught me everything I know when it comes to stippling tupperware. He must be a good teacher.
Thanks for the nice words, it might influence things when I get my report card.

Mike Cwyruys of accurate Iron did my P380 and PM9 and myh G19, his work is excellet but that being said: DRUM ROLL PLEASE ur work Bawanna is just as porfessional as Mikes was. grip stippling does make a gun feel different, don't look for it to increase the value of ur gun, unless another knowledeable shooter understand sgrip stipplying. I later on added mag well cut outs on my PM9, but I do like your work great one. u have talent we know that I was just wondering when uyou were going to venture away from the wood stuff and try ur luck on polymer.

One thing that Mike at accdurate Iron did on y P380 was to stipple up towards the top of the grip (by the side panel area) a more fine stipply and then as it started down the grip itslef he increase the degree of harshness in his stipplying. His therory was that in pullng the gun out of your pocket hyour had is around the harsh area but the smother stipled smaller stippled uppper portion is not nowtrying to grab onto yhour cloths when drawing. In theory it sounds goodk probalbly doesn't make a hill of beans difference..

nicework Bawanna...

damn, I can't believe I just said that:mad:

I'm bleeding off a little pressure from the head. Don't want to be the old man floating away in the balloon.

Thanks for the kind words. Thanks evnash for the tutoring.

Looks good. Funny thing is I've been looking at all the stippling I can find for the last few days. Got me a used 870 I'm modding for HD. I think I'm gonna stipple the forend and the area around the grip on the stock. I was gonna try for a snakeskin look but it seems the random patterns are the way to go. More pics please!

Although I'm not a big fan of stippling it does look like you did a nice job on it.
