Hey guys, now that I have finally got this gun tuned and working properly, I found when cleaning the barrel many small scratches along the rifling.

I did use a copper solvent, that was nickel safe, but they are still there. Looks like every once in awhile something following the rifling scratched it. They are not deep scratches, very light, but still, why is this happening?

IS anyone else seeing this? I have heard rumor that it could be the nickel inside scratching off after repeated rounds but as long as it is accurate, don't worry about it.

What is everyone else seeing on these barrels, not necessarily just P380's?

I suspect it's just normal scratches from the bullet going through. The barrels that had plating issues had it actually flake off like it wasn't adhered well enough. It wasn't a wear issue.
Difficult to say for sure without seeing it in hand but my gut tells me it's a non issue. If accuracy deteriorates or you start having issues we may have to revisit that opinion.

Could it be your cleaning rod or brush? I have a CM9 and have been shooting Berrys Plated. There is not a scratch anywhere inside the barrel or outside. However I do not use the wire brush inside the barrel with plated. Only use an oiled patch and a cloth swab to clean it.

seeing it, I think ur worrying to uch about somethign that is more than likely normal. gotta figure u have a bullet flying downt he barrel and high speed, ur gonna maybe see something that might be confusing to the eye but still normal.

Just shoot it like u stole it.

True, it could have been a brush. At one point i did use it to remove the following, but the scratches were there.

I guess it caught my eye since at the end of the day, softer materials like copper, lead etc are going down a steel barrel. It should be hard enough to not scratch if it can take the great pressures.

I will try a soak method to make sure it is clean, then just shoot it and see how it hold up.

what do you guys recommend for cleaning the barrels, I know Hoppes #9 is out of the loop since it is hard on nickel finishes.

What do you use to get rid fo the copper streaking in the barrel?

I use Hoppes sometimes, you just don't want to soak it or leave in for any length of time. I use Hoppe's Elite or M Pro 7 sometimes too.

A bronze brush shouldn't scratch your barrel. Bronze is a relatively soft metal.
