I picked up my new PM45 Thursday evening. After cleaning and lubing it, I tried to load a snap cap by depressing the slide release and got a jam. The round is getting caught under the stripper bar which is apparently a known problem. gb6491 provided me with a link to the fix which was very much appreciated. It loads fine using a slingshot or a simple manual rack so I'll worry about dealing with the slide release jam later.
My plan was to head to the range first thing Saturday morning but the temperature was 0 and it's an outside range. I waited a bit for it to warm up. It was 7 degrees when I arrived at the range and surprise I had the whole thing to myself. For the first 3 or 4 mags everything functioned as it should, POI=POA and the recoil is a non issue. Actually I didn't even notice the recoil while shooting. After the 4th mag the trigger reset seemed sluggish and the trigger release seemed longer. Eventually it got to the point where the striker didn't release until the trigger was all the way to the rear and I really had to squeeze it to get a bang. It cycled fine but after 35 rounds I called it quits.
I suspected the trigger issue was temperature related and that proved to be the case. Once warmed up the trigger functioned as it should. I hosed the striker area and trigger bar etc liberally with dri lube and oiled things sparingly. My next 3 or 4 weekends are booked with travel and family activities and it was bugging me that I couldn't get back to the range. So, I took a couple hours of vacation this afternoon and put another 55 rounds through it. The second round stove piped but there were no other issues after that. I was using a 100 yd rifle target and the PM45 put 47 of the 55 rounds inside the 8 ring with most inside the 9 and only 1 round outside the scoring area at 15 yards. The trigger functioned as is should with no hint of the problems from the first session.
The next few weeks are going to be pure torture.:hurt:
