Hey all, I told you guys I would put up some pics of new weapons from time to time from the museum (Berman World History Museum) collection where I work. Digging through some of these old weapons and researching them has been a real thrill to my regular work schedule. Some of them have no info with them, and researching is a lot of fun.
This is a Demonthier & Sons revolver knife - a French combination weapon from around 1870. These are 11mm pinfire and were sometimes carried by French military officers. The Bowie-style blade is not a mountable bayonet, but is actually the barrel itself.

How sweet is that. You are one very very lucky guy to get to hold and play with stuff like that. I love old different kind of stuff.
You need an assistant by any chance. I see kahrseye hasn't beaten me this time. Me first, me first.

Bawanna, it IS a joy to get to fool with these things. It has really bradened my knowledge of old weapons as well as prompted me on history that is not always found in textbooks. I have a my masters in biology, which entailed a lot of research, but researching another love of mine (weapons) is a good thing. My primary job is at the other museum (Anniston Museum of Natural History), but our museums are a city complex, and I technically work for both. It is grat to have two great m useums, especially in a small town like this.
I will get lots of pics of the new changing exhibit I am about to open (March 3). It is called "Out of the Vault: Selections from The Illustrated History of Weapons". That was a book that was shot here at our museum. It should be a cool venture through primitive weapons to post-WWII, most that have been in our vault and never permanently displayed.

How cool is that?
I'd be a little hesitant to use that for batoning logs into kindling for the campfire.

At one time my old man had a Chicago lemon squeezer. Unfortunately he sold it before I could get my grubby little hands on it.

I guess you start with the pistol barrel until you run out of ammo and then you switch to the knife attachment. :D

Just no sense of adventure apparently?

The most excitment I can take nowadays is when I find ice cream at the very bottom of the cone.

Can you post pictures of the other side, where (I assume) the bullets come out?

The bullets come out through the hole in the blade. I was using window light, so there were shadows, but you can see it at the top of the blade. The blade is the barrel.
